Job Description: We are seeking a full-time cellar hand to join the production team. This position reports to Managing Winemaker DJ Bilsky. This role supports winemaking duties across Provignage CA, with a focus on estate-managed vineyards. All wines must be made to meet or exceed Provignage’s high level of standards.

As a cellar hand, you will play an integral role in maintaining a meticulous cellar, supporting year-round production needs, and contributing to premium winery brands in a competitive global wine market. The role offers immersion in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation and exposure to comparative tastings and discussions that deepen understanding of prominent wine regions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support high daily cellar operations, including cleaning, sanitation and general upkeep.
• Move wines, barrels, tanks, grapes, materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with all stages of winemaking including processing, fermentation management, racking, barreling down and bottling.
• Record keeping.
• Maintain a safe, organized working environment and follow production protocols.
• Work closely with the winemaking team to execute tasks with precision, care and efficiency.
• Participate fully in all harvest activities, including extended and variable hours during peak periods.
Qualifications:
• Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Previous cellar or winery production experience is preferred but not required; strong candidates may come from other hands-on physical work environments.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Physical readiness for manual labor, including lifting, cleaning, climbing, moving hoses, moving barrels, and general cellar operations.
• Ability to integrate well into a small team.
• Must have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safe, efficient practices.
• Must have good listening skills and the ability to take and implement direction.
• Must have the ability to work both independently and with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have the ability to facilitate esprit de corps and the craft of winemaking.
• Must have a high level of productivity, ability to take tasks to completion and meet deadlines under pressure while focusing on improving quality.
• Must have the ability to accept and apply constructive feedback.
• Must be able or willing to learn how to drive a forklift efficiently and safely.
