At Pence Vineyards & Winery, we approach hospitality the same way we approach our wines: with care, restraint, and a deep respect for the land and the people who gather on it. This role offers the chance to welcome guests into an environment where details matter, and where relationships are built through sincerity rather than volume.
As part of our hospitality team, you will help shape experiences that feel both elevated and grounded. These are the kinds of encounters that stay with guests because they feel genuine and thoughtfully delivered. A natural curiosity for wine is essential here. The person in this position should enjoy tasting broadly, learning consistently, and deepening their understanding of our vineyards, farming practices, and winemaking philosophy.
This hybrid role blends front of house hosting with event coordination. It is a fit for someone who values craft, pays attention to detail, and is energized by creating lasting experiences.
The responsibilities for this role are divided into two primary areas:
Hosting Reservations: Member and Non-Member Guests
• Greet and host both member and non-member guests in the tasting room and member areas, delivering engaging, high touch experiences that foster lasting relationships, drive wine sales, and encourage membership sign-ups.
• Assist in daily preparation of the tasting room and guest experiences, including wine setup, collateral, and table settings, ensuring presentation aligns with established SOPs.
• Share the Pence Vineyards & Winery story, estate vineyards, and wines with accuracy, passion, and professionalism.
• Maintain thoughtful post visit outreach, engaging guests through their preferred communication channels to extend the relationship.
• Actively upsell Estate, Penny, and Library wines, including large format offerings, to enhance guest purchases.
• Promote membership to non-member guests, highlighting long term benefits and strengthening brand loyalty.
• Collaborate with the tasting room team to achieve and exceed DTC sales and membership goals.
Events Coordination: Member and Non Member Focused
• Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager (HM) and Director of DTC to develop and maintain a yearly calendar of member and non-member events.
• Ensure clear communication with the HM, Director of DTC, and ownership to prevent scheduling conflicts and maintain alignment on priorities.
• Collaborate with the HM to manage event staffing needs and adjust tasting room reservations as necessary.
• Deliver timely event recaps, including financial analysis, to guide future event planning and budget allocation.
• Assist in the planning and execution of off-site member focused events in coordination with the HM and Director of DTC.
• Maintain organization and inventory of on-site event supply containers, ensuring readiness of items and furniture.
• Oversee logistics such as linen drop off and pickup and other event related supplies to support seamless execution.
Other Responsibilities
• Attend weekly educational trainings on wine, service etiquette, and guest engagement.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings to review sales metrics, membership sign-ups, and data analysis.
• Assist the team with managing reservation requests through RedChirp and booking through the Tock platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the HM to support overall operations.
