Hospitality Captain

Job Description:

Drive direct-to-consumer revenue as a Hospitality Captain at Soter Vineyards. In this key sales-forward role, you will help lead our tasting room team to exceed sales targets and extend exceptional hospitality to our guests—ultimately optimizing every guest interaction to maximize conversion, average order value, and wine club sign-ups. You are the go-to resource for your peers, assisting with training, onboarding, guest-facing events, and supporting daily tasting room operations as needed. Though not a management role, this position centers on leadership and fostering strong team collaboration.

Soter Vineyards is a world-class producer and grower of exceptional Pinot Noir and sparkling wine in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, calling home Mineral Springs Ranch—a 250-acre oak savanna in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Our Biodynamic Estate Vineyard, winery, tasting room, and heirloom vegetable farm exist in ecological harmony, forming the backdrop for our hospitality experiences and our growing Direct-to-Consumer team.


Key Responsibilities:
•  Personally model high-impact guest interactions that convert tastings and experiences into transactions, memberships, and lasting customer relationships.
•  Execute detail focused tasting room operations: inventory, reporting sales, and overseeing daily logistics.
•  Support direct guest communications across all channels (in-person, phone, email, online ordering/scheduling).
•  Ensure a seamless flow of guest experiences across peak times.
•  Assist in employee training, onboarding of new team members, and support ongoing staff development with a focus on sales skills and hospitality excellence.


What We’re Looking For:
•  Proven sales leader with a track record of exceeding revenue targets in restaurants, wine sales, tasting rooms, or other hospitality-focused roles with a passion to energize the team to achieve their best.
•  Strong computer proficiency with a data-driven mindset; detail-oriented and comfortable working with KPIs and performance metrics.
•  Ability to stay calm and confident under pressure, balancing multiple priorities, and maintaining exceptional standards of execution.
•  Wine industry knowledge (WSET, sommelier training, or equivalent is a plus, but not required).
•  Strong emotional intelligence, resourcefulness, clear communication skills, and an authentic approach to fostering strong guest and team relationships.
•  Physical stamina and capability to work on your feet for extended periods, lift 50 lbs, and manage physical demands outdoors in all seasons.
•  Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
