About Sterling Vineyards
Internationally known, Sterling Vineyards is one of the most visited wineries in Napa Valley. Modeled after a Greek monastery, the winery sits 300 feet above the valley floor where visitors take an aerial tram to access the top-quality Bordeaux varietals and majestic 360-degree views of Napa Valley. Sterling reopened to guests in October 2023 complete with a new gondola system, re-imagined visitor spaces and a fresh take on Napa Valley hospitality.
About the Role
The Kitchen Lead plays a key leadership role in delivering Sterling Vineyards' signature culinary experiences-ranging from intimate tastings to large-scale events hosting up to 500 guests. This position oversees all aspects of the culinary program alongside Culinary & Events AHM.
You will lead menu development, coordinate high-volume executions, and manage kitchen operations with a focus on quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction. This role requires a strong balance of hands-on culinary leadership and operational management, ensuring food safety and excellence across all service areas. Responsibilities
* Oversee high-volume food preparation and service for large-scale events, private experiences, and daily programs
* Partner with Culinary & Events AHM to develop seasonal and event-specific catering menus that highlight food and wine pairings
* Lead kitchen teams in production schedules, plating standards, and event execution timelines
* Manage floor operations for culinary team, ensuring flawless service flow, communication, and presentation
* Maintain and enforce strict food safety and sanitation standards
* Coordinate ordering, receiving, and inventory to align with production needs and cost controls
* Conduct daily tastings to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with brand standards
* Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to execute seamless guest experiences
* Train, coach, and inspire culinary staff to uphold excellence in both volume service and fine dining execution
* Monitor and achieve financial goals including labor management and food cost targets
About You
* Minimum 4 years of culinary experience, background in catering and banquets
* Proven ability to manage high-volume production while maintaining quality and creativity
* Skilled in menu development, team management, and on-the-floor leadership
* Detailed understanding of food and wine pairings.
* Understanding of food safety regulations and ability to enforce compliance across teams
* Excellent communication and organizational skills with a solution-driven mindset
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
* Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $23 to $28 per hour and other benefits. Team members in this role are eligible to earn tips and a monthly commission, providing additional earning potential on top of the base hourly rate in accordance with company policy. Actual tip and commission amounts may vary. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of our Calistoga, CA location. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
