Wine Sales Representative - New York

Winemonger

Remote > New York, NY

Job Description:

Winemonger Imports is an import and wholesale/distribution company specializing in Austrian, Italian, French, and a select number of Hungarian and Californian wines. We also import and distribute Zalto glassware.

We are looking to expand our team in New York, both in the greater metro area and all the way upstate.

You know who you are:
You like wines made from grapes that lots of people don't know how to pronounce. You dig all things organic, biological, biodynamic, and natural, but you also realize that good wine is good wine and flawed wine is flawed wine, so you take all things into account and go with what's in the bottle- even if that means "sustainable" or conventional winemaking methods.

You also like to drink those wines out of the best wine glasses known to humanity: ZALTO. Perfect! You can sell those as well! As long as you're selling a fantastic portfolio of wine, you may as well become a glassbassador as well.

You've done this before and you know that selling wine is not easy, but by now you have friends who are somms and buyers and they like you and they know you wouldn't waste their time on stuff they won't like or can’t buy. They also know that you’ll take good care of them, visit them as often as they want you to, pitch in with in-store tastings and staff training, and deliver what you promise.

You may also happen to be out and about with another portfolio of like-minded wines that would mesh well with the Winemonger world, and we are absolutely open to that.

These are some other things that describe you:

MUSTS
*Pre-existing relationships with accounts in the territory being applied for.
*Goal orientated with a proven track record of achieving sales and profit goals and creating positive relationships.
*Ability to thrive in a highly competitive environment.
*Proven sales skills: bringing the right wine to the right buyer, and closing the deal.
*Excellent organizational skills.
*Knowledge and passion for fine wine, and ready to learn even more.
*Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Spreadsheets.
*A working computer.
*Persuasive communication skills. People like to talk to you without feeling like you’re doing the “hard sell.”
* Able to comfortably lift and move 40 lbs.
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and valid proof of automobile insurance

RESPONSIBILITIES
*Managing sales in the market.
*Working in the market to build strong relationships with all accounts.
*Opening new accounts.
*Managing your samples-to-sales/placements %.
*Some nights/weekends visiting accounts to make placements.
*Conducting in-store tastings and staff training.
*Attending team tasting sessions (still via Zoom, or always via Zoom if you’re not nearby)
*Making the world a better place.

Salary is commission-based depending upon experience, with an expense allowance. Everything is negotiable. We're looking for the best people. Winejobs and the states of New York requires that we put a minimum and maximum pay range, but honestly, the sky's the limit based upon what you put into the job.

Unfortunately, we will only be able to respond to those whose background and work experience meet the requirements of this gig. Please apply to this position by replying directly to this posting and include a cover letter and resume.

Want to be more than just a cog in a giant distributor’s machine? Become a Winemongerer. We will keep all applications strictly confidential.
