The job in a nutshell
The role is to manage, operate and develop BB&R’s U.S. retail store operation, which will be the focal point of BB&R’s heritage brand. In doing so, you will elevate and maintain the U.S retail store team so that they drive the highest standards of prestige retail whilst actively shaping BB&R’s future retail strategy moving forward.
You will be a key ambassador for our iconic brand and help build something truly special from the ground up in our brand-new retail store in the heart of Washington, D.C. Success in this role means working collaboratively, engaging customers with confidence and charm. You will create a welcoming environment that reflects our heritage, expertise, and commitment to excellence.
This role requires a commercial mindset and a customer-first approach, aligned with the fast-paced, service-led retail culture of the U.S. You will understand the importance of being warm and knowledgeable, while also seizing opportunities to convert enquiries into sales.
This is a wide and varied role, ranging from active front-line service to executive meetings about commercial performance and planning budgets.
Who you’ll work with
Internal: Account Manager, Customer Service, Warehouse, Finance, Buyer, etc.
External: Customers, suppliers, producers.
What you will do
• Lead ambassador and public face for the U.S. retail store, responsible for bringing the space to life, embodying our brand values, vision, and purpose, and inspiring the shop team members to be ambassadors too.
• Deliver exceptional, high-touch service, offering expert advice on our curated collection of fine wines and spirits.
• Create a memorable in-store experience that reflects the elegance and heritage of the Berry Bros. & Rudd brand.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards and stock presentation with precision and care.
• Organize and host engaging in-store tastings and events, offering clients a deeper connection to our producers and stories.
• Support sales and marketing campaigns, both seasonal and strategic, that showcase our product offering.
• Accurately manage transactions and support daily reconciliation procedures.
• Maintain a strong awareness of shop security and operational compliance.
• Oversee back of house operations, including stock control.
What you will bring to the role
Your Experience
• A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service in a luxury, retail, environment, working with HNW individuals.
• The ability to build rapport with customers and create long-lasting relationships.
• Experience managing stock levels and replenishment in a premium retail setting.
• Experience managing budgets and commercial reporting.
• Tech-literate: familiar with both retail and business reporting systems.

Qualifications
WSET Level 3 or equivalent preferred.
