Grassini Family Vineyards is looking for a detail-oriented, passionate and motivated person to join our team. First, a little bit about us: Grassini Family Vineyards is a family-owned estate winery in Santa Ynez, CA. We’re passionate about crafting ultra-premium wines from the 65 acres of vineyards we have planted on our 200 acre ranch in Santa Barbara County. (We also love dogs, barn cats and long walks on the beach.)

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are in search of a hard-working, dependable, responsible person who is ready to work side-by-side with our Winemaker and our Estate Director to keep our property looking its best while running smoothly and safely. Our property includes a 12,000 square foot winery, a 6,500 square foot residence, a picturesque pond, multiple wells, and several wine tasting and special event areas. As the primary caretaker of our facilities, you will oversee all buildings and systems, ensuring they are maintained, repaired and operating properly and safely. You’ll also oversee various long-term projects, such as building renovations, construction projects, annual road repair, etc.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a passion for maintaining and enhancing our property. Your attention to detail and enthusiasm will help to create a beautiful, safe and comfortable environment for our guests and your fellow employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for all building systems, infrastructure and equipment including water, wastewater, HVAC systems, lighting, solar panels, pumps, etc.
- Proactively perform routine preventative maintenance and property maintenance work on various systems in the winery building as well as the residence.
- Troubleshoot and make basic repairs and complete minor renovations on the property.
- Schedule and oversee repairs, inspections, testing and upgrades with vendors and contractors to ensure systems are well-maintained, and repairs are completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Oversee projects such as building construction and improvement, road repairs, system improvements, etc.
- Communicate with our winemaking and hospitality teams to ensure maintenance work will not interfere with wine production work, and minimizes the inconvenience to guests.
- Assist the winemaker with maintenance on wine production equipment as well as miscellaneous winemaking projects as needed.
- Assist Estate Director and hospitality staff with event setup and support.
- Assist Estate Director and hospitality staff with various organizational/cleaning projects.
- Work with our landscaping team to ensure the property is kept clean, organized, and in safe condition.
- Perform routine maintenance on typical ranch vehicles such as trucks, tractors, gators, etc.
- Maintain records and submit annual reports to various governmental agencies as needed.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance at our off-site Tasting Room in Downtown Santa Barbara.
- Assures that OSHA work requirements are met and maintain MSDS properly.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

- Has a solid understanding of various building systems, wells, utilities, and building/ranch infrastructure.
- Has basic carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, welding, electrical, HVAC and equipment/vehicle repair skills.
- Experience in Winery Facilities, General Facilities Maintenance, Construction Management, Property and/or Equipment Management is preferred.
- Familiarity with winemaking and vineyard operations is preferred but not required.
- Must be proficient on the forklift.
- Is proactive, has a “can-do” attitude, is patient, flexible and thinks positively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required, as is the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to speak basic Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs repeatedly, stand for eight hours, climb ladders and stairs.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be on-call in case of emergencies.
- Valid CA Driver License with clean driving record required.
- Basic computer skills are required.

Please note that the base annual salary offered for this position is $65,000 - $72,000. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills and experience. This range may be modified in the future.
