Job Summary:
Martha Stoumen Wines is seeking a passionate and community-minded Hospitality Sales Associate to join our team in Healdsburg. We’re a winery deeply rooted in natural winemaking, sustainable agriculture, and building meaningful community connections. This role is perfect for someone who values authentic wine, vibrant conversation, and wants to be part of a mission-driven, collaborative team.
As a Tasting Room Sales Associate, you'll create welcoming tasting experiences, connect with a diverse community of guests, and help grow our wine club and direct-to-consumer sales. This is a dynamic position where curiosity, storytelling, and a love for natural wine are essential. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment and shares our commitment to integrity and inclusion.
This role may also involve representing our winery at off-site tastings and pop-up events in collaboration with local lodging or community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver warm, personalized, and informative natural wine tasting experiences that reflect our playful nature, ethos, and farming practices.
Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets through in-person tastings and outbound campaigns.
Cultivate relationships with new and existing guests through genuine conversation, storytelling, and consistent follow-up (in person, via phone, and via email).
Actively promote wine club memberships and communicate the value of joining our community.
Share our excitement with guests about what differentiates us from other wineries — we have deep sustainable farming and minimal intervention winemaking chops, a very high commitment to quality, and love working with the lesser-known sides of California — but our ultimate goal is to make guests have a memorable and joyful experience when they walk through our door.
Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure memorable guest experiences and smooth daily operations.
Execute opening/closing tasting room duties and uphold all hospitality standards.
Maintain tasting room cleanliness, inventory, and presentation standards.
Support local outreach efforts through occasional off-site tastings and events with lodging and retail partners.
Participate in winery and off-site events, community collaborations, and special projects.
Assist in internal communications, including social, email, or guest follow-ups when needed.
Requirements:
2–3+ years experience in hospitality, sales, or customer-facing roles (wine or food preferred).
Passion for natural wine, sustainable agriculture, and creating meaningful guest experiences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — approachable, curious, and good at reading the room.
Strong comfort with direct-to-consumer sales and ability to "ask for the sale" in an authentic way.
Availability to work weekends and evenings.
Familiarity with POS systems; ability to perform standard opening/closing duties.
Ability to lift 40 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods.
Tech fluency (Google Suite, POS systems, reservation platforms, etc.).
Collaborative team spirit and ability to work independently when needed.
Bonus if You Have:
Wine certification or working knowledge of natural/low-intervention winemaking.
Experience with local food/wine events, social media, or creative community outreach.
Bilingual or multilingual skills
Why Join Us:
Be part of a trailblazing natural wine brand grounded in sustainability, transparency, and care for the land.
Connect with a vibrant community of wine lovers, farmers, artists, and chefs.
Enjoy a collaborative work environment that celebrates individuality, creativity, and growth.
Receive ongoing wine education, tasting opportunities, and employee discounts.
Opportunities for advancement as we continue to grow.
