Store & Tasting Room Manager

Located in downtown Calistoga, CA Picayune Cellars & Mercantile is a destination tasting room and lifestyle leader offering vibrant wines, genuine experiences, a curated collection of unique merchandise, and simple food offerings. This position is primarily responsible for managing the team and the inventory (retail over 3,000 skus and wine). This is a full-time position with opportunity to grow.

Management
•  Oversee & manage daily operations in the tasting room and store.
•  Manage daily operational procedures and enforce policies
•  Plan and implement processes to improve quality, productivity, and performance; as well as maximize efficiency
•  Hands on management of the team to foster sales and a positive work environment.
•  Contribute suggestions for process and performance improvement.
•  Work with management on strategies to achieve goals.
•  Incentivize the staff to reach individual and collective goals.
•  Increase quality traffic to the tasting room.
•  Train and maintain “specialty” tastings.
•  Manage “client telling” portfolios to ensure staff is following up regularly with their guests.
•  Work with staff to maintain the client database and grow business.
•  Assist with monitoring, evaluating, and reporting staff responsibilities and performance.
•  Manage scheduling of staff
•  Manage cash register, and accounting of daily sales and bank deposits.

Inventory
•  Constantly audit inventory procedure and propose improvement when needed
•  Manage daily, weekly, monthly wine inventory in Tasting Room
•  Manage mercantile inventory: reception, pricing, periodic physical counts

Facility Management
•  Oversee that the facility is clean, tidy, and operating properly
•  Assist with launch of food service program
•  Always ensure cleanliness and neatness of the facility.
•  Maintain inventory of tasting menus and all printed collateral.

Wine Club
•  Support wine club coordinator to maximize customer service.
•  Maintain proper wine shipping procedures.
•  Follow and maintain procedures for club pick-ups.
•  Communicate any issues with staff regarding wine club sign up forms.


Customer Service
•  Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service by all sales staff
•  Ensure staff has the appropriate product knowledge and sales skills
•  Monitor customer service feedback and provide a superior level of hospitality to all guests.
•  Set up and host tastings, sell wines, wine club memberships and retail items
•  Fulfill orders, capture customer data

Skills Needed:
•  Experience in store and/or tasting room management
•  Experience with inventory management for 2,000+ skus
•  Leadership skills and comfort implementing standards and policies
•  Advanced wine knowledge with demonstrated ability to educate others
•  Excellent hospitality, communication and sales skills
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  Extremely organized with ability to effectively prioritize tasks
•  Proven ability to effectively train, manage and lead staff
•  Comfort using an Apple computer, Microsoft Office suite and Shopify POS systems
•  Must be 21 years old and available to work weekends
•  Existing Industry network

Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis
•  Ability to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time
•  Ability to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize dolly cart or other equipment to move heavy objects
