Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in the Horse Heaven Hills. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for completing wine and juice analysis, as assigned by the Quality Director, in support of all processing operations.

Lab Responsibilities:

Perform all analysis at the request of Operations – pH, Brix, titratable acidity, volatile acidity, free and total SO2, alcohol, moisture content and particle size. This requires fine motor control at times.
Crush vineyard samples and monitor Brix, pH, and TA during harvest.
Standardize all lab reagents.
Work with cellar personnel to prepare totes for shipment.
Assist in setting up fining and blending trials including the pulling of samples.
Utilize outside labs for analyses as directed.
Troubleshoot methods that aren't producing results within published accuracy.
Assist in cellar when necessary under the guidance of Cellar Master.
Facility Responsibilities:

Perform quality control checks using ATP swabs around the facility as directed.
Properly clean all valves and ports after sampling.
Administrative Responsibilities

Perform data entry for analysis and quality check records.
Communicate reagent and equipment inventory stock needs to ensure timely ordering.
Operate the scale computer when necessary.
Personnel Management and Leadership Responsibilities

Supervise and properly train laboratory assistants.
Computer experience necessary, excel is a plus.
Act as a responsible food producer – always wearing a hairnet when inside the cellar and practicing good hygiene when at work and before arriving.
Experience

Experience in a Wine or Food laboratory setting is preferred.
Familiarity with scientific research methodologies and data collection techniques.
Knowledge of microbiology, histology, molecular biology, and laboratory techniques is highly desirable.
Understanding of FDA regulations, GLP, CGMP practices, and quality control processes is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to laboratory work.
