About the Role
Ehlers Estate is seeking a driven, entrepreneurial Area Manager to grow sales and strengthen our brand presence in either the Houston or Chicago Metro market. This role is field-based and ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on winery environment.
You’ll lead direct-to-trade sales, build and manage distributor relationships, and drive performance with key accounts. Success in this role means delivering measurable results while embodying Ehlers’ core values of integrity, collaboration, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Market Growth: Develop and execute strategies to expand distribution and visibility in key on- and off-premise accounts.
• Distributor Collaboration: Partner with distributor sales teams and leadership to maximize program effectiveness and performance.
• Account Development: Build and maintain strong trade relationships to drive placements, depletions, and long-term growth.
• Sales Execution: Deliver against sales, distribution, and value targets; manage incentives and support programs effectively.
• Market Insight: Provide competitive intelligence and identify high-potential opportunities in your territory.
• Brand Representation: Represent Ehlers Estate at market visits, trade shows, and promotional events.
• Reporting: Track sales results, budgets, and expenses; share insights with winery leadership.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience in wine or beverage sales considered.
• 3–5+ years of sales experience in wine, spirits, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of the three-tier system with proven distributor management experience.
• Demonstrated success managing key on- and off-premise accounts.
• Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and able to prioritize independently.
• Comfortable wearing many hats—strategist, salesperson, and brand ambassador—in a small company environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence trade and distributor partners.
• Passion for wine, with curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.

Physical & Work Requirements
• Valid driver’s license; extensive car and air travel required.
• Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs.
• Comfortable standing, sitting, presenting, and pouring wine for extended periods.
• Must be equipped to work from a “remote office” in the field.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during peak periods.
• Proficient with computers, mobile devices, and CRM tools.
