Kenneth Carl Estate is seeking a Lead Tasting Room Sales Associate to join our team Saturdays - Wednesdays! This pivotal role is essential in providing exceptional customer experiences while promoting our exquisite wines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Ensures that all guests are greeted immediately upon entry to the tasting room.
-Communicates in a knowledgeable, professional and gracious manner at all times.
-ID’s guests to ensure each is of legal age to consume alcohol.
-Serves samples of wine for guests.
-Shares appropriate information and educates guests about our wines, winemaker, brand history, sister wineries, and lodging.
-Promotes the sale of our products, pursues sales opportunities, and encourages customers to purchase our products and join the wine club.
-Accurately uses POS registers and other winery systems.
-Accurately completes end of day reports, reconciles daily sales, and posts transactions.
-Check tasting reservations and gather customer insights. Map out and execute plan for reservations and tastings for each day.
-Receptive to feedback and communicates concerns in a constructive manner.
-Performs opening and closing procedures, including, but not limited to: setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, umbrellas, and all items related to tasting room functions.
-Contacts current and prospective customers via phone and email when tasting room is slow in order to increase wine sales and club memberships.
-Acts as the ‘point person’ for any questions or issues that arise when the DTC Sales Manager is absent.
-Leads by example and upholds all company policies, procedures, and standard practices.
-Represents Kenneth Carl Estate at off-site events.
-Trains tasting room team members on all aspects of the position.
-Plans and coordinates meal and rest periods to ensure they are taken at the appropriate times in compliance with state law.
-Ensures that all tasting room team members follow responsible hospitality standards at all times.
-Ensures that cleanliness standards are maintained and wine, merchandise, and glassware is stocked and presentable.
-Executes special projects and other responsibilities as directed by the DTC Sales Manager.
-Demonstrates a positive demeanor and professional appearance.
-Execute sales campaigns on an as needed basis that may include member incentive programs, club retention programs, and various seasonal promotions.
-Ensures all collateral is available for tasting room sales on a daily basis.
-Complete monthly counts of tasting room wines and merchandise.
-Run general errands for event set-up, supply needs, cash drops and bank change.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be at least 21 years of age.
-Excellent guest service and leadership skills.
-First-hand knowledge of, appreciation and passion for wine and wine-related topics.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and confidently with guests.
-Able to present wines and club memberships, ask for, upsell, and close sales.
-Interpersonal awareness, relationship management and influencing skills.
-Must work weekends and occasional holidays as required and extended hours as needed.
-Must work events as required, which may extend longer than usual tasting room hours.
-Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
-Self-directed, motivated, and able to work with little direction or supervision.
-Highly organized and detail oriented.
-Able to guide and motivate others.
-Able to obtain (within 60 days of hire) and maintain a Responsible Beverage Server and Safe Food Handler certification.
-Possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license, have a reliable, insured method of transportation and an insurable driving record;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
One or more years of successful experience in the same or similar leadership role in a winery sales environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent in English in both oral and written formats. Multi-lingual preferred. Able to communicate in a professional and effective manner at all times.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to identify and resolve discrepancies.
REASONING ABILITY:
Able to understand and follow instructions, and ask questions when needed. Able to effectively analyze information, problem solve and make sound decisions/recommendations based on same.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, shipping, and point-of-sales platforms.

The employee is required to stand, move, and walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee must be able to squat, lift, move, carry and stack 50 pounds on a repetitive basis, climb stairs, set up/break down tables, chairs, and umbrellas. The employee may occasionally be required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch.
