The Estate Host is responsible for hosting guests at Hill Family Estate’s winery location, situated just outside of Yountville. The ideal candidate is outgoing, friendly and enjoys interacting with people while delivering the highest level of customer service.
The Estate Host will be a motivated self-starter, capable of multitasking and operating effectively at a high level. This is a sales and marketing position, and an important requirement of the role will be selling wine and club memberships, as well as establishing and growing relationships with local hotels, wineries and transportation services.
This is a full-time position that will be scheduled to work Thursday through Monday. Weekends and some holidays are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Host wine tasting experiences for guests at our winery location. Deliver exceptional customer service to every guest, with a goal to make each visit lasting and memorable.
• Effectively sell wine and wine club memberships to guests and ask each guest for the sale. Strive to turn visitors into repeat customers and members.
• Forge relationships with local hotels, wineries and transportation services, monitoring their frequency and metrics.
• Track daily sales goals, guest counts and tastings; share with the team.
• Management of the winery property, including opening/closing responsibilities, supply ordering, cleaning and general maintenance.
• Assist with occasional pourings and events as required.

• Must be enthusiastic and passionate about customer service and hospitality, with a strong desire to create special, memorable experiences for all guests.
• First-hand knowledge, appreciation and passion for wine and wine-related topics.
• Winery experience preferred, particularly with experience in hospitality and outreach program development.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak comfortably in front of people.
• Strong retail sales and customer service experience: ability to present product, up sell & cross sell.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with admin team and hospitality staff.
• Must be a team player and maintain a positive disposition at all times.
• Strong multi-tasking abilities required; ability to remain calm, professional and polite under high stress circumstances.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one to two years of experience in the wine, restaurant or hospitality industry. High School diploma or AA degree.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Microsoft Office and POS applications experience preferred.
