Kinhaven, a small, family-owned, and operated boutique winery and vineyard, located in the heart of the Southside of Walla Walla is seeking a harvest intern. We produce small-lot, premium reds, whites, rosé, and sparkling, sourced from our 8-acre estate, the Walla Walla Valley, and the Columbia Valley AVAs.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain firsthand experience in the winemaking process with a small production team and to enhance their resume.
Looking for a dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented individual with a positive “can-do” attitude. Working directly with the winemaker, potential intern will have the opportunity to be included in many facets of the winemaking process - including, but not limited to;
• Perform sanitation procedures
• Sorting fruit
• Punch downs of red ferments
• Inoculations/additions to juice and wine
• Monitoring fermentations
• Operating crush equipment and presses
• Draining and pressing of tanks, including shoveling pomace
• Top and monitor over vintage wines
• Rackings and transfers of juice and wine
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
• Experience with forklift operations a plus, certification preferred
• Knowledge of the winemaking process
• An interest/passion in high-end wine and winemaking
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift/carry up to 50lbs
• Able to communicate effectively
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Must be able to work long hours and varying shifts
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in changing weather conditions
• Enthusiasm, focus, and positive attitude
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Part Time: Mid-September to November
$18+/hour, compensation offered may vary based on candidate qualifications, related experience, and education.
