We’re seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Buyer & Store Manager to lead our Charles Street operation, oversee supporting team members, and craft a thoughtful and dynamic selection that reflects our store’s identity and our clientele’s tastes. The Charles manager will work in partnership with the manager of the DeLuca’s Newbury Street location to curate our wine, beers and spirits selection across both stores. The Charles Manager’s specific buying responsibilities will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Buying & Inventory Management
- Curate a distinctive wine, spirits and/or beer selection with a focus on quality, value, and emerging producers.
- Maintain strong relationships with distributors, importers, and makers.
- Manage inventory levels, pricing, and purchasing schedules.
- Track sales trends and customer preferences to refine offerings.
Store Operations & Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations including staffing, merchandising, and store presentation.
- Manage scheduling, training, and supervision of associate staff.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol regulations.
- Coordinate in-store events, tastings, and seasonal promotions.
Customer Engagement
- Provide outstanding, knowledgeable customer service.
- Cultivate strong relationships with regular clientele and the neighborhood community.
- Offer recommendations and education on wine styles, pairings, and producers.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in wine/spirits/beer buying, retail wine management, or sommelier roles.
- Deep knowledge of global wine regions, trends, and producers.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Passion for customer service and a love of sharing wine with others.
- Ability to lift cases and be on your feet for extended periods.
