General Manager

Overview
The General Manager is responsible for generating revenue which includes maintaining and growing established revenue streams while also creating new ones through diversification. The General Manager is responsible for the development and leadership of all departments within King Family Vineyards (KFV), including implementing effective and innovative Retail and Hospitality strategies, while upholding the integrity of the KFV brand. The General Manager will provide strong leadership, delegation, and decision-making while building a successful team that works together to create a memorable and exemplary customer experience. Oversight of the Administration, Marketing, Operational and Compliance aspects of the winery is key, therefore a solid understanding of Winemaking, Sales & Marketing, Events, Finance, and a deep knowledge of Operational Management of a premium winery is a must for this role.

Key Responsibilities
-Operational Management: Provide support to the managers of the tasting room, events, distribution and wine club including inventory, sales, marketing and customer service, to ensure efficiency and profitability.
-Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve revenue goals while controlling costs.
-Staff Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate a team of 5+ department heads by fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
-Customer Experience: Support the Tasting Room Manager in enhancing the tasting room experience to drive customer satisfaction, repeat visits, and wine club memberships. Ensure exceptional hospitality standards.
-Sales and Marketing: Support the Director of Marketing in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote the winery, including events, social media, direct-to-consumer sales and partnerships with local businesses. Support the Wine Director to drive wine club and distribution growth.
-Production Coordination: Collaborate with the winemaking team to ensure high-quality wine production aligns with brand standards and market demand.
-Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including alcohol production, distribution, and licensing requirements.
-Event Management: Support the Director of Hospitality in the planning and execution of weddings and winery events, such as tastings, festivals, and private functions, to enhance brand visibility and revenue.
-Human Resources: Understand, comply with, and execute HR practices, including but not limited to onboarding, employee benefits, disciplinary notices, and terminations.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the wine, hospitality, or related industry.
Strong understanding of winery operations, including production, sales, and customer service.
Proven financial acumen with experience managing budgets and driving profitability.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
Knowledge of wine industry trends, marketing strategies, and direct-to-consumer sales.
Familiarity with federal and state alcohol regulations (e.g., TTB and ABC compliance).
Passion for wine, hospitality, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons as needed.

Preferred Skills
Experience in a family-owned or small-to-mid-sized business environment.
Background in event planning or tourism-related activities.
Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and CRM platforms.
