Farm Sales & Hospitality Associate

Job Description:

The Sales & Hospitality Associate will conduct olive oil, apple, and value-added farm product tastings, both on-site and off-site. They will interact with farm visitors, shop customers, and tasting guests; conduct sales transactions and provide general administrative and event support to the team as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
•  Tasting Room Associate for Olive Oil Tastings + Farm Shop Sales
•  Host guests for educational olive oil tastings, heirloom apple tastings, and farm tours
•  Welcome customers/visitors during Farm Shop hours
•  Use cash register to conduct sales during Farm Shop hours
•  Set up product samples for customers
•  Must have weekend availability
•  Help set up and close down Farm Shop, including light cleaning (taking out garbage, running dishwasher)
•  Special Events at the Farm
•  Availability on weekends as needed to work Farm Events at GROF
•  Work with team to set up tasting stations
•  Work tasting stations and/or conduct product sales during Farm Events

Outside Events:
•  Represent Gold Ridge in a positive way and share information about the farm with attendees
•  Set up and offer product tastings for attendees
•  Make sales using hand-held POS system, as needed
•  Securing and packing (and unpacking) all necessary materials for events

•  Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
•  Excellent oral communication skills
•  Strong customer service and sales skills
•  Willing to learn about organic farming practices and how olive oil is made and used
•  Must have a positive attitude and be comfortable in front of large and small groups
•  Must have a valid driver’s license and current insurance

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
•  Experience in retail, customer service, and/or food service preferred
•  Ability to operate Square POS and/or Shopify POS register
•  Ability to engage with the public in personable, approachable manner; must be comfortable speaking in large and small groups
•  Responsible and reliable with professional demeanor and presentation
•  Experience with or passionate about organic farming and gourmet foods and organic products

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
•  Ability to work in a standard retail setting and to use standard office/retail equipment, including a computer POS system
•  Ability to travel and attend events at various sites
•  Ability to stand for extended period.
•  Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
•  Position includes extensive standing and walking, and considerable bending.
•  Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

10-20 hours per week to start with potential for expanded hours and responsibilities, based on fit nad seasonality of business needs.

Pay: $25-$28 hourly to Start DOE. This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Generous discounts on Farm Shop items, including 50% discount on branded farm products and 30% discount on non-farm products.
