Tasting Room Sales Associate Job Description


Jeff Runquist Wines tasting room associate is a knowledgeable and friendly professional who assists guests in exploring and enjoying a variety of wines. They greet visitors, provide information about different wines, help customers choose wines based on their preferences, pour wine samples, and ensure a pleasant and memorable tasting experience. Additionally, they may explain the characteristics of each wine, suggest food pairings, and answer any questions guests may have. A tasting room associate should have excellent communication skills, a passion for wine, and the ability to create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for guests. Must be friendly, and reliable, with great customer service skills. Able to learn a POS system, and attend to other non-wine related tasks in and around the tasting room. The associate also assists with the set-up and breakdown of most winery events. This is a part-time position that requires weekend availability.

Tasting Room daily operations include, but are not limited to:

Opening, closing, and stocking wine and retail products
Responsibly pour selected wines for visitors
Develop basic knowledge of the wines and winemaking practices
Handle POS transactions on an integrated register and database
Assist customers to their vehicles (Must be able to lift 40+ lbs.)
Provide all guests with excellent customer service
Available to work special winery events on weekends and evenings
Clean tasting room, bathroom facilities, wash and polish glassware used in the tasting room

General Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age
Responsible Beverage Training Certificate required within 90 days of hire
Runquist is open 7 days a week; this position requires that you work at least 2 weekends per month, as well as days, some evenings, and holidays as scheduled/agreed upon
This position requires the ability to lift 40lbs regularly and stand for 6-8 hours
Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent
1-2 years experience in a similar environment such as retail, restaurant, hospitality, or customer service
Cash handling experience and basic math skills
Flexibility and ability to manage constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
