Job Description:

Platt Vineyard has been producing some of the Coast’s most sought-after Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for over 20 years. Platt Vineyard was established in 2003, and having acquired Platt in 2022, we were able to vinify all of Platt’s production under our own name in 2023. In 2025, we will be able to reveal for the first time the vibrant complexity of this Estate with a full range of Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Most of our wines are sold directly to consumers with a smaller percentage being sold through distribution and international markets. Our Sales & Hospitality team is focused on giving our customers a luxury experience from initial contact to taking possession of their wines.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, polished, and passionate Director of Hospitality to lead the guest experience at our luxury tasting room in the heart of Sonoma wine country. This individual will play a key role in shaping and elevating every aspect of our hospitality program—from daily tasting room operations to private events and brand representation—while fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and warmth. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of premium wine service, team leadership, and luxury guest experience, and thrives in a high-touch, detail-oriented environment.

Hospitality Leadership:
-Manage, oversee and refine all tasting room operations to ensure a consistently exceptional guest experience
-Oversee scheduling and staffing to ensure optimal coverage and a seamless guest experience during all tasting room hours
-Hire, train, and lead the hospitality team, with an emphasis on premium service, wine education, and brand storytelling
-Design and implement tasting formats that reflect the luxury positioning of the brand
-Monitor key performance metrics including daily sales, reservations and customer feedback
-Oversee reservation and POS systems (e.g., eCellar)

Hospitality:
-Conduct unique tasting experiences for Platt guests, ensuring that all guests enjoy their wine tasting experience and leave with a very high impression
-Strong storytelling skills, with ability to discuss wine and respond to customer questions as appropriate
-Effectively promote and sell available wine to clientele organically
-Pack orders for on-site sales or pick-ups
-Contribute to DTC sales
-Assist in concierge role for high touch clients
-Meet monthly sales goals, both in the tasting room and in outbound communications via phone and email
-Accurate and timely customer data capture and order entry

DTC-Focused Events (Onsite & Offsite):
-Identify and propose sales opportunities for Platt Vineyard DTC Sales
-Serve as lead organizer for Platt Vineyard events
-Participate in annual offsite tasting and trade events

Personal Outreach:
-Initiate continuous personal outreach to DTC clients via phone and email to generate sales
-Develop and maintain strong relationships with concierges, other wineries, destination management companies, high-end tour operators and transportation companies
-Participate in networking events to promote referral business
-Participate and assist with annual releases and ongoing clientele outreach efforts
-Passionate about seeking wine knowledge and can accurately describe wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, appellations, and unique aspects of wine

Administrative:
-Process orders, input appointments, and assist with tracking sales in eCellar
-Ongoing maintenance of customer database
-Communicate with Operations Coordinator and other team members to ensure correct and timely deliveries while satisfying compliance and regulatory requirements
-General organization, purchasing, and stocking of supplies
-Answer phone calls
-Print sales forms, menus and marketing materials
-Respond to / appropriately direct emails from info@ account
-Confirm all appointments prior to visits
-Assist with proper stocking / cleaning of tasting room and patio
-Maintain sufficient wine inventory levels for onsite tastings
-Maintain and update monthly pour sheets
-Run occasional errands (supply / wine pickups, lunches, wine drop offs)

Experience:
-Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
-5 years of professional experience in Luxury Customer Service/Hospitality in wine or related industry
-Must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and confident in making sound decisions in a dynamic environment
-Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to engage guests and effectively communicate
-Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills
-Excellent writing skills
-Takes the initiative for self-development in the areas of wine, our brand, other wineries of the AXA Millesimes portfolio, general hospitality, overall personal and professional growth
-Energy level, customer service mentality, positive demeanor, flexibility and maturity to work with: General Manager, Commercial Directors (US & Global), Sales & Marketing Teams (US & Global) and a wide range of vendors
-Discretion and professionalism handling confidential information
-Detail-oriented and ability to operate with extremely high level of quality
-Exemplary follow-through with minimal supervision
-Goals/results oriented
-Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite and eCellar (or similar POS)
-Social Media Platforms

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to stock wine, set-up and break down procedures, equipment, etc. and be able to utilize dolly cart and assist with moving heavy objects

This position is primarily based on-site, with limited opportunities for remote work as appropriate. Must be available weekends and holidays
