Experienced Harvest Assistant

Division Winemaking Co.

Portland, OR

Job Description:

????We’re looking for one more experienced super star harvest assistant to join our winery team this fall!????

We are a small team that practices low intervention winemaking techniques to make a range of wines from over 10 grape varieties grown in the PNW!

Forklift certified (and good at it!) with over 2 harvests under your belt, plus a great sense of humor, a love of that satisfying feeling after a long day of physical work with a great crew & joy from seeing the fruits of your efforts become a magical and delicious reality before you very eyes?

We offer an opportunity to continue to cut your teeth in the OR wine industry and to learn a heck of a lot about small production low input winemaking working with organic and Biodynamic farmed grapes. This is a part time job that will transition to full time during harvest. After harvest, we will likely have some post harvest hours available for position until the holidays that will likely continue into the new year on a part time basis depending on needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•  Cleaning and sanitation of crush equipment, presses, tanks, bins, and winery facilities
•  Cap management including punchdowns, pumpovers, pigeage
•  Take Brix readings, juice and wine sampling
•  Fermentation additions
•  Barrel sanitizing and filling
•  Various other duties around the winery

We need you to be able to do these things:
-Lift 50lbs repeatedly.
-During harvest, work long hours while maintaining a great attitude (we're all in this together and it's only for a couple months a year).
-Ability to work in cold and wet conditions.
-Ability to bend, squat, stand for long periods, and climb ladders.
-Ability to carry out direction both verbally and/or in written form.
-Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation so you can get to work on time. Also, you will likely need to drive the winery flatbed from time to time, so a clean driving record is needed for our insurance.
-Handle pressure well and are not afraid to ask questions when unsure or let us know when a mistake occurs.
-Feel comfortable reading and writing in English.

If all of this sounds like the place for you, we would love to hear from you! Please write us, send us your resume and tell us a bit about you. Also, we love our friends abroad, but unfortunately, we are not setup at this time to handle Visas for foreign workers, so kindly request only those with current U.S. working rights apply.
