Senior Accountant

Job Description:

ZD Wines is a family-owned and operated winery located in Rutherford with over 55 years of history and world-class winemaking. We are seeking to hire an experienced, highly motivated, well-spoken, and dynamic individual to join the Finance Team.

This position requires at least two years Winery experience, attention to detail, great communication skills, attention to details and the ability to multitask. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller, and collaborates closely with all aspects of Hospitality, Wine Sales, Vineyards, Winemaking, and the Shipping Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
-Recording daily retail, wholesale, and distributor sales
-Ensure proper documentation for new wholesale customers
-Process credit memos for wholesale accounts
-Manage and Process Distributor Billbacks
-Accounts payable and weekly disbursement for winery and non-profit foundation
-Coordinate shipping and prepare paperwork for distribution orders
-Manage shipping cross-dock with Wine Service Co-op and resolve shipping issues for distribution
-Coordinate shipping schedules with Shipping Coordinator
-Accounts receivable and bi-weekly deposits, for both winery and non-profit foundation
-Record weekly inventory reductions for samples, donations, and breakages
-Quarterly inventory counts updated and reconciled with QuickBooks
-Monthly credit card reconciliation and expense reimbursements for outside sales team
-Calculate and Process monthly broker commission payments
-Weekly collections activities, bi-monthly reporting to broker, and wholesale account statements
-Semi-monthly payroll including tips, commissions, and expense reimbursements
-Preparation of management report as back up for payroll bank account transfer request
-Annual, Quarterly, and Monthly wine compliance with all federal, state, and local alcohol sales distribution laws including excise, sales/use, and other applicable taxes, including license and permit renewals as well as product registration when required
-Preparation of monthly cleared and upcoming compliance transactions to request funds transfer for compliance payments
-Manage harvest weigh tag tracking and processing, prepare grape grower payments
-Manage customer & vendor certificates of insurance for sales tax and income reporting compliance
-Administrative tasks such as mail distribution, file maintenance, office supply and business card ordering
-Support Controller during peak work flows
-Other projects as requested

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred
- At least 10 years of bookkeeping or similar experience
- Two years previous winery experience
- Advanced Excell skills, including V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, and Queries
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, sharp attention to detail
- Able to work in a team environment as well as operate independently
- Flexibility and openness to changing priorities

Other:
On-site, Full Time Monday-Friday
Primary hours are 8:00am-5:00pm
Full Benefits Package, after 60 days
Salary Range $85,000 - $100,000
