What You'll Be Leading
As Head Winemaker, you will take full creative and operational ownership of our wine and cider production, with the support of a capable and motivated team. You will guide the entire lifecycle of our wines—from grape to glass—while helping shape the identity of Roo Mountain’s vintages and signature blends.
Your key responsibilities include:
• Craftsmanship & Production: Lead all aspects of winemaking and cider production—from harvest, fermentation, and blending to bottling and aging.
• Innovation: Experiment with new varietals, fermentation styles, and techniques to push boundaries while respecting the character of our local terroir.
• Quality & Consistency: Conduct tastings, lab analysis, and quality control checks to maintain and exceed our winemaking standards.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor our cellar and production team, cultivating a strong, hands-on, and high-performing culture.
• Compliance & Documentation: Oversee all regulatory reporting, labeling, and recordkeeping.
• Inventory & Resource Management: Track supplies, barrels, equipment, and wine inventory with an eye on efficiency and sustainability.
• Public Engagement: Serve as a brand ambassador during tours, tastings, and industry events, sharing your expertise and passion with guests and media.

Who You Are
• A skilled, knowledgeable winemaker preferably with a Bachelor’s degree in Enology, Viticulture, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of winemaking experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
• An individual with a bold palate, a sharp mind, and an artist’s approach to blending.
• You are confident with both traditional and modern winemaking techniques and enjoy being part of a collaborative, purpose-driven team.
• Proficient with winemaking software, inventory systems, and lab equipment.
• Comfortable with physical labor (ability to lift 50 lbs) and flexible to seasonal demands.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
• Bonus points for familiarity with North Georgia viticulture or a passion for sustainable agriculture.
