Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Harvest Intern to join our team for the 2025 harvest season! The Harvest Intern will perform various duties that support the winemaking process during harvest. Duties include, but are not limited to: sugar testing, pressing, pump-overs, draining and shoveling tanks, tank additions, punch downs, daily cleaning, barrel filling and other fermentation and cellar tasks as needed. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this position, but it does not restrict the tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

•  Collecting and analyzing samples.
•  Monitoring fermentation.
•  Grape receiving, sorting, and processing.
•  Cellar movement and product processing: racking, blending, pump overs, additions, 02 levels.
•  Barrel Work: Washing, sulfuring, filling, topping, keeping an inventory, moving & emptying barrels.
•  Sanitation: and sterilization of cellar, barrel rooms, crush pad, press pad, tanks, equipment and tanks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•  21 Years of age or older.
•  High School Diploma or GED.
•  Able to understand and follow all work instructions and safety procedures.
•  Insured, reliable transportation.
•  Valid, class C driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
•  Able to work long hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Current forklift & pallet jack certification.
•  Hands-on, working knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
•  Fluent in English. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
•  Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
•  Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately. Able to identify and correct inaccuracies.

REASONING ABILITY:
•  Ability to effectively problem solve, ask relevant questions and utilize good decision making skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A reasonable accommodation, if available, may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

The Harvest Intern performs heavy physical labor on a continuous basis for long periods of time. He or she must be able to lift/move/carry a minimum of 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis and be capable of working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week during harvest. He or she must be able to stand & walk for extended periods of time; see, speak, listen, hear, read, write, lift, reach, grasp, squat, climb, work at heights and enter and exit tanks safely. Must be comfortable working at heights, using chemicals, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment with variable lighting, temperature and ventilation.
