The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dealcoholization and Aroma Capture process, ensuring efficient and high-quality production while maintaining safety and compliance standards. The role involves managing a team of production staff, monitoring equipment and processes, and ensuring the facility operates in accordance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. This is also a hands-on position and will require operations activities and leadership by example.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Management:
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers involved in production operations, including but not limited to shipping and receiving, dealcoholization, aroma capture, blending, additions, and transfers.
• Ensure that production targets, timelines, and quality standards are met.
• Monitor production processes to ensure proper use of materials, machinery, and equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
• Responsible for planning and scheduling workflows.
Team Leadership:
• Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production employees, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
• Conduct training and development programs for team members on wine production techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
• Schedule and assign work to staff, ensuring appropriate coverage for shifts.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Assist in hiring and training production workers.
Quality Control and Safety:
• Monitor and maintain high standards of quality control to ensure the final product meets quality specifications.
• Enforce all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
• Identify and address any potential hazards or quality issues promptly.
• Perform regular inspections of equipment and machinery, ensuring they are operating correctly and safely.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
• Oversee the management of raw materials, production supplies, and finished goods inventory.
• Ensure proper maintenance and care of production equipment and machinery, coordinating with maintenance teams when necessary.
Develop and oversee preventative maintenance program.
Reporting and Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production activities, including work orders, production logs, inventory reports, and safety documentation.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to wine production, labeling, and packaging.
Process Optimization:
• Continuously monitor production processes to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with the General Manager to implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Support the introduction of new processes, equipment, or technologies to enhance production capacity and quality.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Certification or degree in Food Science, Viticulture, Enology, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production role within the beverage, food, or wine industry. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of wine production processes.
• Familiarity with distillery operations and procedures is plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate complex automated equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in a production environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and production management software.
• Strong English level. Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Strong Excel and office skills are a must
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a variety of environmental conditions (e.g., cold storage areas, hot areas near machinery).
