Job Summary
Cellar Hand 2 will skillfully perform wine work, including wine transfers/rackings, blending, barrel work, topping, etc. Cellar hand 2 will be expected to perform cellar operations with specific and/or complex instructions with accuracy and efficiency. Harvest responsibilities will include press operations and leading the sorting/processing of fruit. This individual must be skilled on a forklift.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
• General winery cleaning and sanitation
• Wine movements, rackings, blending
• Operate pumps and assembly of transfer lines
• Operate press and harvest equipment
• Assist with bottling/packaging
• Skilled forklift operator
• Assist in oversight and training of cellar hand 1 and temporary harvest staff duties
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Understanding of winemaking processes
• General knowledge of mechanical equipment (electrical motors, fluid pumps, valves, and piping systems)
o Knowledge of various pump types and flow characteristics used in the winery
• Forklift operation and safety (including barrel movement, layout, and stacking)
• Ability to follow and execute verbal and written instructions
• Ability to complete given work orders without error in a timely fashion
• Basic math skills (arithmetic operations)
• Some leadership skills preferred
Required Education, Experience, and Licenses
• 1+ years cellar experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current driver’s license
Physical Requirements
• Ability to operate in a physically demanding and dynamic cellar work environment
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry heavy items over 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to access and work safely in confined spaces
• Extended periods of time standing
