Richard Böcking Winery in Traben-Trarbach, Mosel Germany, is looking for a Harvest Intern for the 2025 Harvest (September – November 2025)
This year, as we celebrated our 400th anniversary, our small-lot, highly specialized, premium winery is looking for an intern to assist and work with our 3rd generation Vintner and his harvest team in all aspects of harvest operations for this fall. Our award-winning wines are produced in our 14th-century facility with modern, yet natural winemaking techniques,
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard worker who is passionate about wine; someone who enjoys learning everything there is to know about harvesting and winemaking. You will have complete access to every detail of our 2025 harvest, complete with as much Riesling as you’d like at the end of the day.
The Intern position will include:
Work with a small team to produce ultra-premium, hand produced Riesling and Pinot Noir wines.
Assisting our vintner in all harvest activities including but not limited to:
• Harvesting grapes on steep slope vineyards
• Transferring fruit from vineyards to cellar
• Fruit receiving, sorting, and processing
• Winery sanitation (harvest, cellar and crush equipment)
• Fermentation management including sampling for Oeschle, temperature and lab samples
• Wine movements, including tank to tank transfers and filtration
• Barrel/steel tank filling, topping, filtration, cleaning
Assist with other cellar duties, such as labeling and export orders
Occasional marketing to English-speaking guests
Qualifications:
• Be available for long and irregular hours during peak harvest periods or on various shifts.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and be able to bend and lift as required.
• Minimum 22 years of age
• Passport and valid driver’s license required
• High School diploma minimum
• Viniculture training desired
• Previous vineyard/winery work desired
• Responsible, follows directions, works safely, no exceptions
• Highly motivated.
• Ability to speak and read German or English.
Schedule will be 6 days a week while receiving grapes and a 10–12-hour workdays as needed. Hours will decrease down to 8-hour days, 5 days a week as the season slows down.
Lodging in company flat provided; single room, shared during harvest. Kitchen, etc., provided.
Company flat in Trarbach is less than 5 minutes walk from the winery. Near restaurants, etc.
Return airfare from Frankfurt will be provided no less than 6 months from the beginning of employment.
Start date is to be determined but will likely be early September and typically extends through mid-November.
