Position: National Sales Director
Department: Distribution Sales
Status: Exempt/Full-time
Number of Hours Per Week: 40 (may be required to work more than 40 hours per week)
Markets of Direct Responsibility: Domestic US Market, National Accounts
Reports To: Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer
We are seeking an experienced National Sales Director to expand our sales strategy across the United States. This remote position is ideal for candidates centrally located within the U.S.
In this role you will have a dual focus on directly managing and growing national account relationships and leading a high performing sales team to expand all channels. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that align with our luxury wine brand.
Role and Responsibilities
• Performance
• Responsible for delivery wholesale Annual Operating Plan each year
• Develop and invest in National Accounts
• Maintain existing accounts and develop new accounts across all channels and account’s structure(s)
• Implement and manage pricing strategies, negotiate contracts, and drive initiatives that lead to profitable sales
• Set and achieve sales revenue and margin goals, managing a portfolio of key accounts to maximize growth potential
• Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and contracts to prospective customers
• Provide regular updates on sales activities, customer feedback, and market insights to management
• People
• Manage wholesale sales team of 3 people with opportunity to grow organization commensurate with sales growth
• Manage team who manage wholesale partnerships and relationships for best-in-class service and execution
• Develop and maintain current and forward-looking organization strategy for wholesale sales team(s)
• Programs
• Own and develop pricing initiatives and programs nationwide.
• Develop strong relationship with on-premise national accounts including hotel, resort, and luxury restaurant chain businesses
• Lead distributor partners with clear and concise planning at placement, depletion, and programming levels.
• In conjunction with Marquee accounts manager, cultivate on-premise placements nationwide in order to grow brand awareness
• Act as thought-leader to CR/MO across entire wholesale business in order to drive revenue and brand growth
• Projects
• Drive repeatable and sustainable business through SMART goals for our distributor partners and use analysis of the market to identify and address market opportunities and gaps in distributor performance.
• Generate growth in the off-premise channel through analytical, educational presentations using IRI/Nielsen data to drive placements and depletions.
• In conjunction with the finance team, consistently improve all data and reporting tools in order to drive improved performance and metrics
• Purpose
• Consistently communicate our brand standards with distributors to ensure they are following all Evenstad Estates guidelines.
• Present our brands with the highest level of professionalism at trade events not limited to, distributor and consumer tastings, distributor and consumer dinners, and distributor and consumer educational seminars.
• Work with all local trade organizations such as the Willamette Valley Wineries Association and Oregon Pinot Camp to educate and engage our distributor sales force through knowledge-based training.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
• 8-10 years minimum Distribution and management experience with a luxury wine supplier, including sales team management.
• National Accounts experience preferred.
• On and Off-Premise Channel experience required with a proven history of POD and Depletion Growth in both channels.
• Experience with Circana and/or Nielsen required.
• Luxury brand experience required.
• Experience with P+L management and budget development.
• Dynamic and passionate about fine wine with a high level of wine experience.
• Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, policies, and proposals in a highly effective and efficient manner.
• Proven track record of strong sales skills in previous/current work experience.
• Knowledge of key trade account buyers, promotional practices, and operational procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and delegate tasks as appropriate.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of an organization.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities to meet deadlines on short notice.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Up to 50% of the time may be required for travel
• Ability to demonstrate discretion, good judgment, tactfulness, and diplomacy.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to work successfully in partnership with operations and Direct to Consumer business peers.
• Advanced experience in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Compensation Profile
