Tasting Room Assistant Manager

Picayune Cellars is a winery and a mercantile store located in downtown Calistoga. Our environment is dynamic, so you get a chance to work on many aspects of the business. Successful candidates are detail-oriented, pro-active, with a can-do attitude. We are looking for candidates who are responsible, organized & positive. The tasting room is also a mercantile store, you will work with both aspects of the business. This is full-time position with quick opportunities to grow into more responsabilties.

The candidate will assist managing all aspects of the tasting room: hiring, scheduling, training, hosting guests, inventory control and more.

Duties include but not limited to:
Management:
Assist with overseeing & managing the tasting room daily operations.
Hands on management of the team to foster sales and a positive work environment.
Assist to enforce the tasting room policies & procedures.
Contribute suggestions for process and performance improvement.
Work with management on strategies to achieve goals.
Incentivize the staff to reach individual and collective goals.
Increase quality traffic to the tasting room.
Train and maintain “specialty” tastings.
Manage “client telling” portfolios to ensure staff is following up regularly with their guests.
Work with staff to maintain client database and grow business.
Work with local resorts and partners to bring in new customers.
Assist with monitoring and evaluating staff responsibilities and performance.
Assist with reporting of performance to present management.
Assist with monthly staff schedule.
Assist with management of cash register, and accounting of daily sales and bank deposits.

Wine Club
Support wine club coordinator to maximize customer service.
Maintain proper wine shipping procedures.
Follow and maintain procedures for club pick-ups.
Communicate any issues with staff regarding wine club sign up forms.

Facility Management & Inventory
Assist with wine inventory in Tasting Room
Ensure cleanliness and neatness of the facility at all time.
Maintain inventory of tasting menus and all printed collateral.

Customer Service
Monitor customer service feedback and provide a superior level of hospitality to all guests.
Set up and host tastings, sell wines, wine club memberships and retail items when needed
Fulfill orders, capture customer data.


Skills Needed:
•  Interest in tasting room management
•  Experience with inventory management
•  Excellent hospitality, communication and sales skills
•  Leadership skills and comfort upholding standards and policies
•  Comfort using computer, office suites and POS systems
•  Advanced wine knowledge with demonstrated ability to educate others
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  Extremely organized with ability to effectively prioritize tasks
•  Proven ability to effectively train, manage and lead staff
•  Must be 21 years old and available to work weekends
•  Existing Industry network

Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis
•  Ability to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time
•  Ability to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize dolly cart or other equipment to move heavy objects
