Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of all winery facilities by performing mechanical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting equipment under general supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on winery buildings, facilities, and production equipment.
• Conduct scheduled inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and assist with assigned facility projects.
• Execute bottling line changeovers, adjustments, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Maintain and manage spare parts inventory for production and facility equipment.
• Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, including conveyors, tanks, production lines, and related machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, identifying malfunctions and replacing components such as bearings, gears, or other mechanical parts.
• Support general mechanical tasks involving welding, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, refrigeration, and HVAC.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to plan and complete work.
• Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and effectively.
• Assist with moving materials, furniture, and equipment as needed.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures and maintain clean and organized workspaces.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a trade school program in Mechanical Maintenance and Repair plus 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment, or 4 years
of equivalent hands-on mechanical maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Skilled in safely working with 120V, 240V, and 480V electrical systems a plus.
• Proficient in the use of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tools and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
• Familiarity with OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Must regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to mechanical equipment, moving parts, fumes, chemicals, humidity, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels can vary, often reaching high levels in production areas.
