Position Overview:
We are seeking a mid-level Compliance Associate to join our energetic and talented team at Vieux Vins Group. This role demands a keen eye for detail, outstanding communication skills, and a thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
The Compliance Associate will play a crucial role in ensuring the company’s compliance with all alcohol beverage regulations, including managing alcohol beverage licensing, overseeing federal and state regulatory filings, and coordinating product and brand label registrations. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of licensing and tax requirements at both the state and federal levels, specifically pertaining to the alcohol beverage industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Filings: Prepare, submit, and track federal and state regulatory filings for sales and operations.
Licensing Management: Obtain and renew alcohol beverage licenses across various jurisdictions.
Product and Brand Registration: Oversee brand and label registrations to ensure all products are compliant before entering new markets.
Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of excise tax reports for relevant jurisdictions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain compliance documentation and regulatory databases to ensure up-to-date, organized records.
Market Compliance Support: Aid in distributor appointments/terminations, control state coding, and manage territory agreements.
Compliance Research: Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices to keep the compliance team informed on federal, state, and local regulations related to the wine and spirits industry.
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of 3 years experience in alcohol beverage compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
Comprehensive understanding of state and federal alcohol beverage regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); familiarity with NetSuite, ShipCompliant, TaxJar is a plus.
Proven success meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments, working independently, and collaborating professionally across departments and with external agencies.
