Lead Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description:

Provides leadership and guidance to a team of mechanics, performing skilled mechanical work, diagnosing and repairing equipment, and general shop operations. Performs repairs including preventative maintenance on a wide variety of buildings, facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains winery facility plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. Leads and performs skilled level repairs and modifications to buildings and grounds performing tasks such as light carpentry, fabrication, painting, landscaping, and other general maintenance. Responsible for adhering to all principles of PRW USA’s Integrated Management System.

Key Responsibilities
•  Provide technical guidance to winery mechanics and operators, troubleshoot problems, and provide solutions
•  Responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of winery properties, and production equipment
•  Oversee and perform general mechanical work associated with various facilities projects such as welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, and HVAC
•  Follows blueprints, drawings and general instructions to plan projects, and investigate failures & repairs
•  Directs and performs preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems. May perform non-certified welding, wiring and simple machining operations incidental to repair assignments
•  Maintains equipment, equipment manuals & warranties, and ensures compliance and timeliness of maintenance records
•  Responsible for managing and maintaining production equipment spare parts inventory
•  Maintains mechanical equipment and systems requiring the isolation of malfunction, disassembly of equipment, repair/replacement of parts and structural components
•  Responsible for troubleshooting, changeovers, and adjustments of production equipment
•  Assembles and installs mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment & systems such as production machinery/tools, conveyor systems, tanks, pumps, filters, and presses
•  Uses a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to complete projects & perform repairs
•  Electrical work to include 480V, 277V, 220V, 120V, and low voltage control power
•  Responsible for PRW USA’s Maintenance Management System transactions including work order processing, and data entry activities
•  Monitors and maintains winery site domestic water distribution, and sanitary & process wastewater treatment systems
•  Completes periodic inspections & manages associated records in compliance with regulatory requirements
•  Assists with general carpentry, plumbing, and upkeep of winery buildings as directed
•  Follows GMPs and general housekeeping procedures & protocols to ensure a clean and orderly work environment
•  Responsible for adhering to all principles of PRW USA’s Integrated Management System
•  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
•  Minimum 5 years general maintenance experience
•  Requires a well-rounded knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used within the mechanics trade
•  Ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings
•  Experience with electrical, plumbing, pneumatics, carpentry, fabrication, and welding
•  Strong computer skills including Maintenance Management Software experience, and Microsoft office programs
•  Ability to lead, motivate, a team of mechanics
•  Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and high standards

Desirable:
•  Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English)
•  Supervisory or Lead role experience in a maintenance capacity
•  Knowledge of, and experience with lean manufacturing principles
•  Experience with domestic water distribution, and process wastewater treatment systems
•  Knowledge of basic operations in refrigeration & HVAC systems
•  Prior winery experience

Special Conditions:
•  Some out of hours work may be required;
•  Intra/Interstate travel as required;
•  Current driver’s license.
•  Ability to lift heavy boxes (40-50 lbs), climbing stairs and ladders, bending, sitting and walking
•  The maintenance department presents a work environment that can vary from a shop setting to climbing on top of outdoor equipment. Work can be impacted by work interruptions and urgent changes in job priorities

Pay Transparency: The base pay scale for this position is $36-$40 per hour. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. The Company reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
