Director of Hospitality and Consumer Sales

SUMMARY: The Director of Hospitality and Consumer Sales is responsible for all consumer visitation and sales activities. S/he will report to the owner of the winery and operate under their direction. This individual will oversee all allocation memberships, event, e-commerce, hospitality, and culinary programs. Direct reports are the employees of these consumer hospitality programs.

The winery is committed to handcrafting and marketing the highest quality wines, produced sustainably, by a dedicate of team of outstanding wine professionals.

LOCATION: The position is located in the beautiful Napa Valley, and the candidate must be available to work on-site at the winery location.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•  Assume P&L accountability for the DTC departmental budget(s), establishing annual department budgets, and manage those plans to meet goals and maximize ROI
•  Take primary responsibility for the strategic vision and successful execution of all initiatives involving allocation memberships, tasting salons, on-site events, hospitality, culinary, e-commerce, and off-site consumer-facing events
•  Lead, inspire and guide a diverse professional staff in identifying, developing, and executing activities that maximize the potential for best-of-class consumer experiences and commerce, and provide pathways for their team to achieve or exceed annual performance goals
•  Utilize their existing relationships to develop and execute all visitor/guest traffic-driving initiatives: outreach with concierges, DMs, restaurants and organizations
•  Be the face of the brand, enjoying interacting with consumers; a people-loving personality who models this to our team of winery hosts (Wine Ambassadors)
•  Assure that the orderly and sophisticated “look and feel” of the property is maintained, in alignment with brand, and that this reflects the welcoming atmosphere of a world-class winery offering extraordinary tasting and epicurean experiences
•  Utilize direct-to-consumer channels to drive sales through increased customer awareness and visitation, acquisition, communications, brand loyalty and retention
•  Manage website and shopping cart to drive revenue through e-commerce channel
•  Partner with PR agency to communicate DTC programing externally and manage any outside agencies/vendors as required
•  Oversee day-to-day retail, membership, and hospitality operations
•  Maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly performance dashboards that inform management of critical sales performance metrics
•  Identify new and support existing strategic partnerships and alliances that target hospitality (i.e. hotels, restaurants and destination management companies) and wine industry partners; develop referral marketing programs to cross promote like-minded brands
•  Manage culture, encourage strong work ethic, and foster a high level of trust and respect in the DTC team
•  Foster a company-wide sense of authenticity, scarcity, and prestige
•  Lead the charge on designing, vetting, and implementation of all DTC programs
•  Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:

•  Undergraduate college degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field is required; M.B.A. is a plus
•  Ten or more years’ experience playing an active role in a luxury wine consumer marketing and/or creative services company, or in a related field
•  Possess knowledge and appreciation of fine wines
•  Have a superior understanding of hospitality and customer service
•  Be self-motivated and driven to achieving goals, achieving sale budgets, and controlling expenses
•  Enthusiastic, team focused, and creative
•  Outstanding written and oral communications, with strong interpersonal skills
•  Ability to work as a team leader and motivator, and successfully manage multiple projects profitably, within deadlines, all in a highly dynamic and ever-changing work environment
•  Be willing to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends, as needed for success
•  Must be at least 21 years of age, with a clean driving record and active driver’s license
•  Must be able to lift 45 pounds; ability to climb stairs, and to sit and operate a computer
