The Vineyard & Cellar Associate position will assist in all vineyard and cellar activity under the supervision of the Winemaker. S/he will perform routine and repetitive tasks with specific instructions and set procedures. This position requires a self-starter mentality, good written and verbal communication skills, basic math abilities, flexibility, good judgment, a positive attitude, commitment to the job and quality of work.
Essential Duties:
Performs basic vineyard work such as pruning, vine training/tie-downs, post and trellis maintenance, soil maintenance, de-leafing, trimming, topping, and harvesting
Performs basic tank work such as blending, racking, moving wine which includes the loading of bulk wine tankers, and tank sanitation
Performs basic barrel work such as filling, disgorging, topping, additions, stirring and all required, complies with the respiratory requirement for application of SO2
Performs bottling line tasks in various workstations which includes basic cleaning of bottling line equipment and working stations
Performs barrel and tank work during harvest period which also requires direct guidance to seasonal workforce
Assists with filtering operation and sanitation
Performs housekeeping and sanitation tasks to meet internal quality standards which encompass winery, bottling and harvest operations
Responsible for the proper setup, use, and care of all cellar equipment
Assists with movement of grapes, bulk wine, finished wine, etc. between warehouse, production facilities, and additional sites
Adheres to all established safety and quality guidelines
Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors
Accepts additional duties as assigned

Must have flexibility with scheduling, and willingness to work various schedules. Will require occasional overtime and weekend work during harvest and as needed. May also require on-call status for emergencies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50lbs
Understands and reads work order instructions in English
Ability to sit and work at a desk for long periods of time
Ability to walk, stand and work on concrete floors
Ability to move around entire production building throughout the day, most work will be inside a warehouse or production facility where ear protection, safety shoes and eye protection are required
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under obstacles and generally move about in a warehouse and manufacturing environment in the course of inspecting, observing and managing operations
Ability, and certification where applicable, to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and larger (non-CDL) vehicles such as cargo vans and box trucks
