Job Description:

Rutherford Ranch Winery is seeking a full-time Lead Landscaper that will provide guidance and supervision in all areas of winery landscaping and groundskeeping work.

This position will oversees the landscaper and groundskeeper crew to effectively maintain a neat, flourishing appearance of the property’s landscape. Assures the effective functioning of all irrigation systems for the landscape and provides an efficient and safe working environment for all employees. Uses best business practices to manage resources, schedules, and processes to meet the needs of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Oversee all property landscape including but not limited to all wineries, public areas, and Family vineyard and residence.
•  Develops and implements a landscape maintenance program for all landscape areas
•  Responsible for the completion of specific tasks and to ensure quality standards are met
•  Provide input for performance tracking and disciplinary actions for landscape personnel
•  Assist Landscape team with the maintenance/cleaning of all Landscape equipment
•  Investigates and evaluates new materials, systems and equipment which may benefit the company in its landscape maintenance programs.
•  Establishes and maintains daily work schedules, maintenance records and inventory of equipment.
•  Ensures all daily maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to specifications.
•  Manages daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly landscape maintenance schedules and task lists.
•  Monitors all landscape areas for erosion issues during rainy season
•  Schedules, supervises and coordinates the work of the labor force
•  Regularly inspects the progress and quality of service/repair work
•  Reports errors, violations, incidents or problems immediately
•  Implement and oversee a rodent abatement plan
•  Identify training and development needs of direct reports
•  Ensure that equipment is maintained in good working condition and stored in a properly manner
•  Oversees inventory of tools, safety gear and materials
•  Pickup/deliver materials, include coordinating the shipping of local wine
•  Install and repair infrastructure, including facility irrigations system.
•  Plant and maintain a yearly vegetable garden
•  Ensures staff is in compliance with all health and safety standards and bring any safety concerns to management immediately
•  Perform all other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:
•  High School Diploma or Equivalent
•  3+ years experience in landscape construction, as a Foreman/supervisor role
•  Bilingual in English and Spanish.
•  Comprehensive knowledge in rodent abatement
•  Strong hardscaping, masonry, carpentry, irrigation and lighting skills
•  Able to operate various tools and equipment
•  Ability to lift 75 lbs. and perform physical labor outdoors in extreme weather conditions
•  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under tight deadlines
•  Computer skills, with the ability to read and fill out basic spreadsheets
•  Must have a strong work ethic, demand attention to detail and timeliness, and be a proactive problem solver
•  Plant knowledge and identification are a plus
•  Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
•  Ability to promote safety and ability to abide and enforce safety standards.
•  Ability to manage and prioritize projects under tight time constraints.
•  Highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
•  Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with management, peers, and subordinates.
•  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
•  Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple projects.
•  Ability to follow oral and written directions; work well under pressure and time limits.
•  Ability to solve problems in a creative manner.
•  Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Primary Duties:
-Preform general landscaping duties
-PVC Pipe installation and repair install low voltage lighting transformers
-Fix drip line/emitters
-Troubleshooting and repair

Irrigation and Lighting Experience is desired. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and lift 50lb throughout the day.
