Job Summary:
Join our team!! The Tasting room manager position is responsible for creating a memorable wine-tasting experience for guests, driving sales, and managing a dedicated team of tasting room staff. The Tasting Room Manager schedule is Thursday through Monday, with tasting hours being Friday through Sunday. In addition to the Tasting Room guest engagement, this role manages tasting room inventory, helps in the coordination of tasting room events, and ensures the tasting room delivers an experience consistent with Byington Winery's high standards of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
-Guest Experience & Sales:
-Deliver an exceptional tasting experience, providing guests with knowledge of our wines, history and hospitality.
-Maximize wine sales through effective storytelling, upselling, and wine club membership recruitment.
-Address and resolve any guest concerns promptly and professionally.
Staff Leadership & Development:
-Lead, train, and motivate the tasting room team to deliver outstanding service.
-Schedule staff and manage shift coverage, ensuring the tasting room is appropriately staffed during tasting hours (Friday-Sunday).
-Evaluate staff performance and provide ongoing coaching to ensure team growth and alignment with company values.
Inventory & Sales Management:
-Manage inventory for wine, merchandise, and supplies, ensuring accurate records and efficient stock management.
-Maintain point-of-sale systems, process transactions, and prepare daily sales reports.
-Collaborate with the winemaking and marketing teams on special promotions.
Event Coordination:
-Manage and/or facilitate on-site and special events, such as private tastings, corporate gatherings, and wine club member events to ensure that each runs smoothly and that guests receive an excellent overall experience.
-Work closely with the events team to ensure a seamless guest experience, including setup, staffing, and wine selection.
Operations & Compliance:
-Ensure the tasting room and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
-Monitor and maintain compliance with local and state alcohol laws.
-Ensure health and safety standards are upheld for both guests and staff.
Qualifications:
-Should have some experience in wine, wine tasting, and familiarity with basic wine production processes (Sommelier, WSET, or CSW certification is a plus). Willing to learn to fill in knowledge gaps.
-Proven leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer experience.
-Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-Must be available to work Thursday to Monday, including some holidays and weekends.
