About the Role
TWE Paso Robles seeks a qualified wine chemist to join our experienced laboratory team. This position will work closely with the winemaking and production teams and perform daily sampling, analyses, bench trials and data collection/recording. The successful candidate will have some laboratory experience, strong organizational skills, excellent time management, good computer proficiency, and a desire for quality results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Conduct all activities in a mindful manner observing all safety rules, proper personal hygiene, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and cleaning and sanitation requirements.
* Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a high throughput analytical laboratory.
* Must be flexible with scheduling of workdays, hours and shift assignments. 40 hrs/week including weekends (if needed).
* Retrieve samples from wine tanks filled with in-process fermentations and wines using proper sampling techniques.
* Perform routine juice and wine analyses using a wide assortment of advanced and automated equipment.
* Able to read and interpret analytical results such as Brix, alcohol, pH, total acidity (TA), volatile acidity (VA), residual sugars (RS), ammonia, primary amino nitrogen (NOPA), potassium (K), free and total sulfur (FS and TS), filterability and other analyses accurately and efficiently.
* Troubleshoots and conducts routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Preparation and standardization of essential chemical solutions and reagents.
* Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies, including chemicals and reagents.
* Provide training to new and seasonal employees when necessary.
* Record and enter data in central collection systems: Excel, JDE, VinoEZ and AgCode.
* Maintain equipment in proper working order.
* Maintain good general housekeeping of the Lab and Tasting Room: discard samples; clean glassware, counter tops, lab equipment and instruments regularly.
* Communicate all analytical results to winemaking and cellar teams in a timely manner.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
* Valid California Driver's License and clean DMV record required.
QUALIFICATIONS
* A bachelor's degree in enology, viticulture, biology, chemistry, or related scientific field.
* 0-2 years of experience working in a laboratory atmosphere.
* Previous winery experience is preferred but not required.
* Ability to work both independently and as a dynamic, contributing team member in a fast-paced environment.
* Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to work long hours in both indoor and outdoor environments.
* Ability to perform physical labor when necessary, and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow.
* Excellent communication skills; effective communication in English.
* Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word required, strong data management skills required.
* Must be 21 years of age.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $24.04 to $26.44 per year and other benefits. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of our Paso Robles location. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
