Title: Procurement Specialist

Summary:
The Procurement Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for the procurement of packaging materials, including glass, corks, labels, capsules, and corrugated shippers. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing direct procurement processes, optimizing value, maintaining supplier relationships, and identifying new sourcing opportunities to support the winery’s objectives. The procurement specialist works independently with minimal supervision and collaborates across departments to support initiatives related to new product development, cost control, inventory management, sales, and bottling operations. This position also has full ownership of the bottling schedule and is expected to make informed, strategic decisions with a strong understanding of market trends, supplier dynamics, and cost negotiations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, terms, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Maintain and administer product specifications across all brands.
• Coordinate closely with marketing for new product development
• Represent the company during packaging trials and offsite bottlings; collaborate with supply partners to meet finished product goals.
• Ensure packaging quality and brand standards are upheld at bottling facilities.
• Lead winery bottling meetings, own the bottling calendar, manage change requests, and ensure timely and accurate communication across teams.
• Provide insights on packaging supply trends, market conditions, and pricing to internal stakeholders.
• Oversee procurement planning, order execution, and delivery coordination to align with production timelines.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to anticipate supply and demand shifts.
• Negotiate with vendors on issues related to material non-conformance, including disposal or adjustment.
• Stay current with industry best practices, procurement innovations, and new sources of supply.
• Continuously improve purchasing workflows to support growth and new product initiatives.
• Establish raw material standards and conduct supplier performance evaluations.
• Develop and manage long-term strategic supplier relationships.
• Proactively assess supplier risk and maintain business continuity plans for supply disruptions.
• Lead RFI (Request for Information) and RFP (Request for Proposal) processes as needed.
• Maintain and manage the master bottling calendar; coordinate with external facilities to ensure schedules remain current and accurate.
• Budget and manage inventory levels to achieve winery objectives on spending
