We are looking for a cellar technician! Star Lane & Dierberg Vineyards focuses on high quality, certified sustainable Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. We are fortunate to manage two estate vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley. Our Sta. Rita Hills AVA vineyard grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and our Happy Canyon AVA vineyard grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cab Franc, Malbec, Syrah and more. We also work with some great clients and help them craft their wines resulting in opportunities to observe several different winemaking approaches.

We take making wine very seriously, and ourselves not so seriously. Our cellar is a place of organization and education. Understanding why we do things is a keystone to our efficiency and growth.

We think wine should taste great. We think food should taste great. We think we should learn something every harvest, and work to create a team environment that cultivates safety, quality, education, and deliciousness. Every vintage this is our ultimate priority and our greatest motivation. We are looking to bring on a team member who is efficient and energetic with good attention to detail.

Daily Tasks:
Cleaning and sanitizing winery equipment.
Racking and pumping of juice, must and wine.
Barrel upkeep and sanitation. Steaming, SO2, hydration.
Barrel downs, topping and sampling.
Additions during fermentation and for finished wine.
Bottling preparations and organization.
Aesthetic upkeep of the cellar at all times.
Client interface.
Blending trials, blind tastings, and wine education.
Asking questions and learning.

Necessary Skills:
Ability to follow instructions, read and comprehend work orders and take notes accurately.
Ability to work well with others and ask questions.
Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing schedules and circumstances (Especially during Harvest).
Ability to lift over 50lbs and be on feet most of the day.
Ability to apply basic math accurately.
Appreciation for good espresso a plus
