Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports achievement of company operations by documenting quality and safety procedures and processes according to certifying agency and OSHA standards. Ensures quality of products and processes by monitoring and enforcing quality standards for raw materials, bottled wine, and other products, and inventory counts. Conducts food safety audits and implements and enforces procedures, HACCP, and internal auditor programs. Assists with the planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and the quality of wine.
- Design, optimize, and validate analytical methods for the analysis of various compounds found in wine.
- Assure accuracy, precision, and reliability of analytical results- all performed in a timely manner.
- Assists QA Manager with managing laboratory inventory, including chemicals, reagents, and supplies, as well as maintaining current calibrations and repairs.
- Optimizing workflow to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Effectively communicate areas of improvement in the wine to the cellar lead, winemaker, and/or their supervisor.
- Assists with the planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.
- Assures that Lescombes Family Vineyards complies with applicable federal and state health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
- Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies, procedures, and governmental regulations; collaborates with Operations Managers to develop new processes and procedures to maintain the quality of wine.
- Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Input inventory data into a computerized wine production system.
- Enforces and demonstrates all safety rules for the work area, including wearing any Personal Protective Equipment, i.e., safety glasses, gloves, or other equipment necessary to perform the job safely. Report any safety issues to the Safety Coordinator and Production Managers immediately.
- Works with the QA Manager to resolve all customer concerns and leads all product recalls when necessary.
- Verifies HACCP plans are followed.
- Research OSHA regulations to stay compliant with the laws. Schedules internal audits.
- Audit wine quality and safety procedures across departments.
- Assists with designing, implementing, and monitoring the food safety and quality system in order to obtain the desired results.
- Performs other similar or related duties as necessary or as instructed by the Supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, or similar (BA/BS).
- Experience in managing quality and/or safety programs is preferred.
- Ability to follow the fermentation process to recognize issues and adjust accordingly.
- Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety, and environmental fields.
- HACCP certification preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 is preferred.
- 2-5 years of previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and processes is preferred.
- Ability to read instructions and produce computerized production reports.
- Ability to work safely and be safety conscious
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
