Walsh Family Wine is looking for harvest interns for 2025. Since opening our doors in 2018, we have focused on producing high quality Virginia wines for our winery and numerous clients across the state. We farm and manage close to 60 acres of vines in Loudoun County used solely for our premium winemaking needs.
We are looking for interns that are passionate about wine and are eager to learn. We currently have openings that would focus on cellar, lab, and vineyard work or a mix of everything, if interested. The position would start in early August and finish in early November.
Our interns participate in all harvest/cellar activities including:
• Winery Sanitation - cleaning equipment, wine tanks, and hoses, etc
• Fruit receival, sorting and processing, sampling
• Operation and cleaning of crush equipment
• Punch downs and Pump Overs
• Racking and Wine Transfer
• Barrel filling, topping, stirring, and racking
• Draining tanks, digging out pomace, and pressing pomace
• Potential to learn and transition to wine labwork if interested
• Other tasks as necessary
Position qualifications:
• Ability to work early mornings or evenings, occasionally 5-6 days a week
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Understanding of general winemaking practices is a plus
• Ability to bend, squat, stand for long periods, and climb stairs, catwalks and ladders
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly
• Ability to work with chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.)
• Previous harvest experience is a plus
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Being awesome and fun
