Internship Opportunity: Harvest Interns at Thomas Fogarty Winery
Thomas Fogarty Winery, in the scenic Santa Cruz Mountains, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Harvest Interns for the 2024 vintage. This internship offers hands-on experience in all facets of winemaking, from vineyard to cellar, providing a comprehensive understanding of the wine production process.
About Us:
Thomas Fogarty Winery and Lexington Wine Co. specialize in estate-grown varietals including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon. Our commitment to quality extends to vineyards across various AVAs, offering interns exposure to an eclectic range of grape varieties and appellations as well as winemaking techniques and philosophies.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in cellar operations including racking, barreling down, press operations, topping, general cellar sanitation,
fermentation management, pump-overs, punchdowns, lab equipment operations, data management of all fermentations and general wine movements, helping to evaluate
quality of winemaking process, forklift operations, operation and maintenance of all crush equipment, work order entry, fruit receival, barrel prep and sanitation, press-cut
management
• Maintain cleanliness in all work areas, including equipment and facilities.
• Participate in lab analysis including foss equipment operations, data/spreadsheet management, SO2 management and operations of equipment, general lab organization
• Vineyard responsibilities including collecting plant tissue samples, some maturity sampling of estate vineyards, harvesting

Requirements:
• Strong curiosity about wines and winemaking processes.
• Attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• Forklift and manual transmission driving skills are advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be eligible to work in the US and proficient in English.
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive movements, and working at heights.
Duration and Availability:
The internship runs from mid- August to mid-November, with the possibility of extension. Interns are expected to work six days a week, including weekends during peak season.
