The History of Foley Family Wines
In spring of 1996, Bill & Carol Foley purchased 1,000 acres of lush and fertile earth within the then relatively unknown Sta. Rita Hills region of Santa Barbara County. Their plan – produce hand-crafted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that reflected the best of California’s Central Coast. Named for their two daughters – Lindsey & Courtney – Lincourt Vineyards was born, and with it, the beginning of Foley Family Wines. In the 25 years since, Foley Family Wines has grown into one of the world’s largest producers of fine wine, adding some of the industry’s most valuable wineries, located in the most recognized winemaking regions, including Napa, Sonoma, the Pacific Northwest, and New Zealand. Today, the Foley Family Wines portfolio boasts a number of the most-celebrated names in wine, including Chalk Hill Estate, Chalone, Ferrari-Carano, and Sebastiani.

Job Summary
Responsible for the direct supervision of cellar staff and activities, in accordance with FFW winemaking and operational policies, to ensure maximum productivity, efficiency and the high quality of all wines produced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•  Supervises, facilitates and prioritizes all operational activities in the Cellar, Bottling and Barrel Room areas
•  Works closely with Winemakers, Lab and Production Managers to coordinate cellar and bottling activities.
•  Coordinates cellar facility and equipment repairs and basic preventative maintenance with the Maintenance department
•  Maintains and promotes a safe working environment, complying with all Cal-OSHA requirements and FFW safety programs. This includes expert understanding of and certification for hazardous materials use, safety and procedures, assuring adherence by subordinate staff
•  Understands basics of winemaking and viticulture practices
•  Supervises, maintains and documents proper sanitation of cellars, aging vessels, and equipment
•  Assists in establishing and maintaining all FFW quality management systems (QMS) and HACCP protocols as needed
•  Plans staffing needs and coordinates employment opportunities and seasonal/bottling hiring with Winemakers and Human Resources
•  Monitors and maintains cellar supplies and inventory; responsible for all purchases of replacement supplies as needed
•  Receives, organizes and logs all bottling supplies and bottling supply inventory
•  Creates Bills of Lading for shipping of bulk wine or cased goods
•  Participates in Company and external educational opportunities to enhance job performance and knowledge
•  Coordinates bulk wine and dry goods inventory counts in conjunction with Winemaking team
•  Identifies, researches, communicates and implements process improvement opportunities for operational efficiencies and wine quality assurance
•  Completes special projects as assigned, such as winemaking experiments, research of new equipment and procedures
•  Encourages teamwork and personal growth and advancement of cellar staff
•  Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience:
•  Bachelor’s degree is preferred
•  Minimum of four years’ experience in a cellar supervisor position
•  Forklift experience is desired

Knowledge, Skills & Other Abilities:
•  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel
•  Thorough understanding of databases and database management. Winemakers Database experience is preferred
•  Willing to work and advance with technology
•  The ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents
•  Able to respond to inquiries or complaints from coworkers, customers, regulatory agencies and members of the business community
•  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and media
•  Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

Physical Requirements:
•  Must be able to climb stairs and work at heights
•  Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a repetitive basis and work standing up on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time
•  Must be able to work in cold, damp and dark cellar environment

Pay Scale: The base pay range offered for this position is $75k - $115k salary. This range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The actual compensation offered will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, qualifications, skills, experience, education, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
