Job Description:
A small, premium winery located in the Napa Valley is seeking a dependable and trustworthy Facilities Manager for managing the home and estate (interior and exterior) including landscaping, equipment, mechanical systems, and other duties as needed to support the smooth running of operations. This position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team, as it provides support to both winemaking and sales/marketing/business. Responsibilities shift depending on the time of year, but it can generally be expected that time will be spent divided to approximately 10% legal and compliance, 40% maintenance and landscaping, 30% support to winemaking, and 20% packing and shipping

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES ARE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

1. Primarily responsible for the maintenance and active improvement of the estate and its aesthetics, including:
- The main house & guesthouses
- The surrounding grounds & gardens & landscaping
- The irrigation system for both the gardens and the vineyard

2. Management of the gardeners and housekeepers : development and maintenance of a tailored and detailed schedule for landscaping/horticultural & household activities by season and per year, responsible for the clean up of the Estate for guests (i.e., tastings, dinners, guest accommodations, other events).

3. Management & maintenance of all mechanical systems, including HVAC, electrical, fire & alarm, water, waste, wells, drainage, storm water, lighting, IT, phone & Internet systems.

5. Coordinate and manage vendors and contractors with good business sense.

6. Report to offsite administrative office on basic bookkeeping functions such as timesheets, absence reports, expense reimbursements, expenditure requests, etc.

7. Under the instructions of and in full coordination with the winemaking team, assist and supply the technical resources to the winery as needed : harvest preparation and logistics, meal & labor planning, bottling

8. Under the instructions of and in full coordination with the Estate Manager, organize and optimize the packing, shipping, and delivery of wines & other items as well as assisting in inventory & inventory management

9. Generally provide support to the team for all operations and hospitality activities.

10. Run errands when needed and manage purchases as necessary, provide transportation with company vehicles when needed by the owners/officers of the company.



QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

- B.S./B.A. in premium estate management, mechanical science or engineering, agriculture, or related fields is encouraged.

- Significant knowledge and experience in landscaping, HVAC, electrical, wells, irrigation, septic, water, and other mechanical systems

- Good general and building maintenance background, and mechanical knowledge of appliances, equipment, vehicles, and buildings.

- Desired minimum 3 years of experience in landscaping, especially in a leadership role

- Good understanding of the level of excellence and extreme care to details required for the production of very fine wines

- Experience in assisting shipping, packaging, labeling

- Basic computer skills in: MS Office, Outlook, Internet

- Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, interpersonal skills, problem-solving & multitasking abilities, adaptability, prioritization of workload

- Efficient, highly organized, self-directed, goal & detail-oriented, willing to roll up the sleeves to work hard and put in extra work when needed, positive attitude

- Excellent proven driving skills and record, proof of auto insurance

- Spanish and English bilingual candidates preferred

- though infrequent, the ability to occasionally work outside of normally scheduled hours during key winery events such as harvest, bottling, or emergencies as needed
