We are a boutique wine shop in Harlem, specialized in small wineries. We are looking to employ a wine specialist who is self-motivated, positive, knowledgeable, and passionate about wine. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply!

Job Summary:

The wine specialist is responsible for the day-to-day store operations, creating a memorable wine and customer service experience, promoting wine sales and providing wine education to customers.

***NOTE: We are currently hiring for WEEKENDS ONLY. Weekend availability is a MUST.***

General Responsibilities

Customer Experience:

•  Provide excellent customer service in all areas: welcome guests, educate and present the wine selection and elevated experiences.
•  Set and maintain exemplary customer service standards and seek continuous improvement of the visitor experience.
•  Create and execute an exclusive experience for each customer: confidently and knowledgeably speak to wines, varietals, winemaking/viticulture practices, growing areas, winery and history.
•  Promote the sale of wine and non-wine products sold.
•  Maintain, update and expand knowledge of the winery, viticulture, enology by participating in educational trainings and tastings.

Store Operations:
•  Manage cash handling, including cash drawer reconciliations, bank deposits and change orders.
•  Maintain the overall appearance of the sales floor.
•  Learn POS systems and manage transactions.
•  Possess a high level of integrity for performing sales transactions.
•  Troubleshoot POS system issues when required; support sales by successfully operating the POS system, ringing sales, placing shipping orders, opening and reconciling cash drawers accurately.
•  Resolve customer or staff complaints promptly, seeking positive outcomes.
•  Stock supplies and maintain displays in retail areas.

Qualifications:
•  Must be 21 years of age.
•  6 months experience.
•  Must be available to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
•  Enthusiasm for wine and interest in expanding expertise.
•  Service driven, with superior customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.
•  Friendly, positive and professional disposition when dealing with guests, vendors and team members.
•  Be a team player, working with other sales associates.
•  Strong attention to detail and proactivity. Ability to multi-task, follow-up and work in a fast pace environment.
•  Capability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
•  Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

Physical Demands:
•  Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 40 pounds at varying frequencies.
•  Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks.
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time.
