Job Description:

The Asst. Cellar Lead works directly with Cellarmaster in executing all cellar operations at a small production, esteemed winery. This includes all harvest, cellar and winery operations that involve the wineries wine grapes and wine. Some, but not all the duties of this position are: wine movements, cellar additions, topping, fining, filtration, and all cleaning processes, along with all bottling/labeling/packaging and inventory

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cellar Work
Assists Cellarmaster in the following winery operations according to winery’s SOPs.
•  BBL down
•  Wine transfers
•  Racking
•  Topping/additions
•  Filtration
•  Sanitation/Cleaning – Tanks, barrels, cave, harvest equipment

Operations
Assists Cellarmaster in tracking inventory monthly and annual bottling of wines
•  Inventory of bulk and bottled wine
•  Inventory of packaged goods
•  Bottling/packaging

Harvest
Assists Cellarmaster in the following harvest duties including the following:
•  Berry sampling
•  Barrel downs
•  Wine transfers
•  Pump-overs/punch-downs
•  Inoculations
•  Fermentation checks, etc.

Vineyard
Working with Vineyard Manager assist in gathering data from various estate vineyards/block
•  Pressure Balm
•  Shoot Counts
•  Cluster Counts
•  Cluster weights

General Procedures
Assists Cellarmaster with all various general cellar duties:
•  Maintains a clean, organized, and presentable winery
•  Follows proper sanitation protocols
•  Cleaning/sanitation of all tanks, barrels and winery equipment
•  Thorough start of day/end of day checks of the winery
•  Forklift operations

Qualifications:
•  Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
•  Bachelor’s Degree in Wine and Viticulture or related degree preferred
•  Minimum 3 years premium winemaking cellar experience.
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•  Ability to work long hours during harvest.
•  Able to work collaboratively with a team.
•  Demonstrates a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
•  Skilled in hands-on cellar tasks and operations.
•  Able to lift 1- 9 liter case of wine
