Hudson Wines Cellar Master
Reports To: Winemaker

Situated deep in the heart of the rolling hills of Napa Valley’s Carneros District, Hudson Napa Valley has been growing grapes for exceptional winemakers for 35 years, and today crafts Hudson wines from select parcels on our 2,000-acre estate. We are seeking a Cellar Master to join our winery team at Hudson in preparation for the coming harvest and beyond.

The best candidate for this position is a strong worker who is a self-starter who can buckle down and clean equipment or help sort, just as easily as troubleshooting problematic equipment. At the same time, it is important that they be able to discuss our wines and philosophy so that all quality standards are met. The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to those listed below:

Cellar Duties Include
•  Management of daily cellar work activities
•  Organization, delegation, and execution of winery work orders including but not limited to: racking, topping, and additions to vessels using the InnoVint platform with an Ipad
•  General upkeep, cleaning, and organization of the cellar
•  Monitoring of cave temperature and humidity
•  Water sampling, compliance, and permitting
•  Facility and equipment general maintenance and repairs including but not limited to: pumps, barrels, gas lines, water hoses, electrical, lighting, and plumbing.
•  Sensory monitoring of wines along with Winemaking team in order to maintain quality control guidelines
•  Assisting in collecting and processing laboratory wine samples
•  Forklift operation, maintenance, and training
•  Adherence to safety protocols
•  Coordination of olive oil, vinegar, and honey production
•  Effective communication with Winemaking team on daily activities and cellar maintenance

Harvest Duties Include
•  Management of daily harvest activities, full time staff, and interns.
•  Daily maintenance, operation, trouble shooting, and repairs of harvest equipment including but not limited to: press, must pump, elevated sorting table, destemmer, shaker table, optical sorter, automatic pump overs, forklift, tractor and pomace trailer.
•  Daily fermentation monitoring
•  Execution of pump-overs and punch-downs
•  Hand-sorting of fruit
•  Cleaning and setting up tanks, sorting equipment, and presses for receiving fruit


Minimum Requirements
•  During harvest, a 6 day work week is expected in addition to extended hours, varying shifts, nights and weekends
•  Job is physically demanding with frequent walking, standing for long periods of time, conducting repetitive tasks and requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
•  Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
•  Some Spanish fluency preferred
•  Employee will be exposed to materials typical to the winemaking process such as sulfur and winery cleaners
•  International candidates must have work visa in place
•  Minimum of 3 year of winery experience preferred

Compensation
•  $60k-$75k annual salary
•  Benefits start at 90 days
