About Purple Sky Winery:
Purple Sky Winery is a boutique winery nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Pleasant View, Utah. We are looking to pioneer this new viticultural region in Northern Utah with nearly 200 acres of hybrid cold-tolerant varietals like Frontenac, La Crescent, Marquette, and Itasca. Our beautiful new facility is just about ready to begin operations with modern, high-end winemaking equipment.

Job Description:
As Cellar Master at Purple Sky Winery, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the production of exceptional wines that reflect our unique terroir and commitment to quality. Working closely with our winemaking team, you will oversee all aspects of cellar operations, from grape reception to final blending and bottling. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for winemaking.

Responsibilities:

-Manage day-to-day cellar operations including grape processing, fermentation management, and cellar hygiene.
-Coordinate with vineyard team to ensure timely grape harvest and delivery to the winery.
-Monitor fermentation progress, conduct lab analysis, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure wine quality and consistency.
-Perform routine cellar tasks such as racking, blending, and barrel maintenance.
-Maintain accurate records of cellar activities, inventory levels, and wine movements.
-Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures to optimize efficiency and quality.
-Collaborate with the winemaking team to evaluate wine quality, participate in blending trials, and contribute to the development of new wine styles.
-Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
-Minimum of 3 years of experience in cellar operations within a winery environment.
-Strong knowledge of winemaking principles, fermentation science, and cellar techniques.
-Proficiency in basic lab analysis and sensory evaluation.
-Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
-Flexibility to work extended hours during harvest and peak production periods.
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions.
-Passion for winemaking and a commitment to producing high-quality wines.
-Spanish language skills a plus
