Under the stewardship of Betty O’Shaughnessy and Paul Woolls for more than twenty-five years, O’Shaughnessy Estate Winery is an esteemed producer of ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley. Together with the full-time vineyard team, Vineyard Manager Alan Pierson tends to 120 acres of estate vineyards across the Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, and Oakville AVAs. Job Description:

The viticulture intern will have the opportunity to assist the Vineyard Manager with a myriad of tasks including, but not limited to: crop estimation, phenology tracking, maturity sampling, water status monitoring via pressure bomb, pest/disease scouting, night picks, record keeping and data entry, and hands-on vineyard work as needed. The intern will also assist on the crush pad as needed.

This internship typically runs from July-October but will depend on the growing season. During the busiest part of harvest, the intern can expect to work 6 days per week including some nights and weekends. The hourly wage will be $20-25 plus overtime and lunch is catered once a week during crush. Mileage driven between vineyard sites will be reimbursed.

Qualifications:

Though prior harvest experience is not required, knowledge of viticulture and associated seasonal vineyard activities is important. Successful candidates are self-motivated and able to manage their time independently. Strong computer skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are essential. Applicants must be committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.

Ability to work outdoors and navigate variable/steep terrain
Extensive walking and time on feet
Reliable housing and transportation. Position requires driving and a clean driver’s license.
Spanish language proficiency desirable
