2024 Vineyard/Cellar intern

Pamplin Family Winery

On-Site + Housing Included > Dundee, OR

Job Description:

You want to learn about winemaking, learn everything.

Pamplin Family Winery is located in the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon (approximately 40 min. from Portland). We are dedicated to producing the finest Cabernet Sauvignon based wines sourced from the best Columbia Valley vineyards in Washington State and estate chardonnay.

I have a vineyard/cellar assistant position available for the right candidate. Responsibilities will include cluster sampling and vineyard assessment at some of the finest vineyards throughout the Columbia valley appellation and our estate Chardonnay vineyard. This position will fulfill the critical role of determining pick dates through accurate and consistent cluster sampling. Cellar responsibilities will include fermentation management, fruit processing and cellar work.
A company car will be provided for vineyard visits along with housing. You will need to provide your own transportation for personal use.

This is a great opportunity for a viticulture/enology student to learn viticulture strategies that maximize fruit quality in the field and to experience the dynamics of making picking decisions (the most important decision in winemaking). You will also learn hands-on winemaking tailored to terroir and variety. We offer a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and a quality focused, limited production winemaking environment that doesn’t afford for any compromise.

Candidates must like to work hard, have a positive can-do attitude, be eager to learn, pay attention to the details, and above all, love what they are doing. Employment will run from late August to early November. Previous experience and/or formal education are a plus. Personality goes a long way. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs, have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

A clean driving record and safe/aware driving skills are required.
