Located in the heart of downtown Healdsburg, Marine Layer Wines is recognized as one of the premier wine brands of the Sonoma Coast, celebrated for our elegant, site-driven Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and our authentic, exceptional hospitality. As a cornerstone of Valkyrie Selections’ portfolio, we pride ourselves on crafting exceptional wines while delivering immersive, memorable guest experiences.
We’re currently seeking a Hospitality Manager to lead the charge at our tasting room. This is a key leadership opportunity for a passionate and experienced hospitality professional who thrives on connecting with guests, mentoring teams, and driving direct-to-consumer success. We’re looking for a motivated leader who’s passionate about hospitality and excited to help represent a brand that’s built its reputation on thoughtful guest experiences and a passion for quality.

-- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES --
Hospitality & Sales Leadership

Guest Experience Excellence: Deliver personalized, high-touch hospitality that reflects the brand’s ethos and creates lasting impressions. Lead by example, setting service standards and ensuring every guest interaction aligns with Marine Layer Wines’ values.

Sales Strategy & Performance: Develop and implement strategies that drive guest visitation, increase wine sales, and grow membership. Monitor sales and club performance regularly, adjusting tactics as needed to meet or exceed targets.

VIP & Trade Visits: Coordinate and host visits from trade partners, wine club members, and VIP clientele, ensuring a premium, curated experience that fosters long-term relationships.

Event Coordination: Lead the execution of onsite events, collaborating with the Director of DTC Sales & Marketing to plan and deliver seamless public and private experiences that engage our audience and elevate the brand.

Local Business Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with local hotels, restaurants, and peer wineries to generate referrals and drive qualified traffic to the Tasting Room.

Industry Networking: Represent the brand at local and regional events, actively participating in the community to expand Marine Layer’s visibility and guest reach.

Team Leadership & Management

Team Development & Leadership: Provide consistent leadership and clear expectations for the hospitality team. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture rooted in professionalism and mutual respect.

Recruitment & Training: Lead hiring, onboarding, and continuous training of tasting room staff. Organize regular team meetings, tastings, and coaching sessions to ensure knowledge, alignment, and morale remain high.

Staff Scheduling & Coordination: Create and communicate staffing schedules that align with business needs, ensuring adequate coverage during peak and off-peak periods.

Operational Excellence: Uphold daily operating standards, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, safety protocols, and inventory control. Ensure all operations run smoothly and reflect the brand’s standard of excellence.

Performance Management: Conduct ongoing performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback. Address performance issues thoughtfully and efficiently, with a focus on growth and accountability.

Administrative & Operational Responsibilities

Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records and oversee ordering of wine, merchandise, food, and supplies to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize loss.

Reservation & Schedule Management: Manage guest reservations via TOCK, including seating assignments and guest notes. Ensure all dietary restrictions, preferences, and special requests are handled with care.

Hospitality Team Payroll: Prepare and submit staff hours for payroll processing in coordination with the Director of DTC Sales & Marketing on a bi-monthly basis.

Customer Concierge: Act as a trusted resource for guests by providing thoughtful recommendations for local dining, lodging, and experiences. Anticipate guest needs and provide a welcoming, informed point of contact throughout their visit.

-- QUALIFICATIONS --
Minimum of 3 years of experience in hospitality, sales management, people management, inventory management
Passionate about hospitality, wine, and sales
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop employees to reach their full potential
Solid understanding of wine, food, and consumer trends
Knowledge of systems: Commerce7, Tock, Google Workspace, WineShipping
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
Highly organized, self-starter
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Superior customer service skills and service-driven
Responsible Beverage Service Certification
CA Food Handler’s Permit
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
Must be able to carry up to 50lbs, and stand for long periods of time

-- COMPENSATION & BENEFITS --
Salary: $65k-$75k DOE
Quarterly Bonus Potential
Sales & Membership Commission
Health Stipend
PTO: 5 paid sick days, 10 paid vacation days annually, paid holidays as listed in employee handbook
401K Eligibility: After 1 year of employment and 1,000 hours worked annually

This is a full-time position, reporting to the Director of DTC Sales & Marketing.
